simple things are always the best, no bells or whistles just a history of copied text

only minor grips, could do with an auto start feature on the preferences but it's easy enough to do manually in system preferences as a login item. Also on my second day of using it thought it had stopped working then found there needs to text on the clipboard before the drop down menu will appear.

Clipper ReviewUpdate to my post below - Version: 1.1, 1/14/2006 09:22PM PST

I take it back-- you can apparently make the history preference stick if you hit return after entering the value you want. Just entering the number and closing the preference panel won't do it.

Now all I need is a hotkey and it's perfect!

Clipper ReviewAlmost perfect - Version: 1.1, 1/14/2006 12:15PM PST

Mike Fleischner
If it would only retain the history number in the preferences panel (personally don't even care about the actual clipboard contents) throughout restarts and had hotkeys to cycle through the histories. I'm trying to reproduce the effect I had under OS 9 and the F-key AltClipboard, which ony had two clipboards and switched between the two with (in my case) shift-command-6. This app almost does that, but I can't keep the number of clipboards to 2 through restarts and I have to use the mouse to switch clipboards.

Clipper CommentaryGreat concept but I can't get it to work - Version: 1.1, 12/9/2005 05:22PM PST

I can't figure out how to get it to paste into TextEdit; for me the history size preference always goes back to 10 after a restart (unlike for pfrit); and when Clipper is running, command-V from the keyboard will not paste anything into TextEdit. For all the above reasons, a help or readme file is desperately needed.

Feedback trying out Clipper with OS 10.4.3:

1. Couldn't get the "History" Prefs (number of clips retained) to 'stick' beyond the default 10 when Quitting and Restarting the app

2. Had trouble getting clipped text to retain formatting but maybe that's because I was using Clipper concurrently with PTHPasteboard

3. When you have several 'clips,' you can't click on one further down in the list and have that entry immediately paste into your document; rather, you have to put a check beside the particular 'clip' and then Command-V to paste the entry into your document

4. I didn't find an easy way to open up the list of 'clips' using only the keyboard (had to use the mouse)

5. Don't know if the 'clips' are retained between computer restarts or not...developer's site doesn't say and I haven't restarted my computer after the Clipper install

Hopefully my critical comments weren't caused/exacerbated by using Clipper and PTHPasteboard concurrently. If so, I'll appologize to the developer in advance. But as it stands now, I think the free PTHPasteboard is a more robust clipboard app.
