Product Description:

Mac HelpMate was designed for all Mac users, from day-to-day users, to power users and administrators. Mac HelpMate contains powerful diagnostic features, such as the ability to run S.M.A.R.T hard drive tests, check temperature and hardware sensors, as well as a host of other handy tools like inspecting installed packages, repairing permissions, cleaning caches, removing unnecessary trash files, and much more. Mac HelpMate also provides an easily configurable asr multicast server, and support for Growl notifications as well. After all this, Mac HelpMate remains freeware, available for anyone to download and use.

Mac HelpMate can also be enhanced with a Mac HelpMate Engraved or Professional account, making it the perfect leave-behind application for Mac Techs to give to their clients. By signing up for an Engraved account, you can have Mac HelpMate will display your custom graphic, and link users to your website. With a Professional account, Mac HelpMate can also empower your users to allow you screen sharing/control via VNC to their computers with zero configuration hassles.

Help anyone, anywhere- routers? firewalls? no problem. In recent tests, Mac HelpMate easily handled remote control of a 23inch Cinema Display over a DSL connection with no lag. A few days ago, I was able to connect to a customer's Powerbook in Peru, with no VPN, no configuration, no asking about ip addresses or port numbers. To share or control a Mac there's nothing to install on the client machine outside of Mac HelpMate itself (you can even run it off of the Disk Image) and no admin password is required to initiate sharing or control.

An account subscription is needed for the remote control/application and branding to work, please contact us at sales@macworkshops.com for more information.

Mac HelpMate ReviewA must-have tool for remote techs - Version: 2.5, 8/13/2008 08:01PM PST

Mac HelpMate provides a lot functionality and valuable diagnostic information to help you effectively and efficiently support your clients remotely. It also provides an easy-to-use interface for your clients to securely share their screen with you for "hands on" tech support (on-demand or automatically). Key words: easy, secure.

The Auto HelpMate functionality and its accompanying portal manager are worth the price of subscription alone. You can even track a client's lost or stolen Mac, because the portal maintains a "last seen online" entry for each Auto HelpMate-enabled Mac.

Mac HelpMate ReviewGreat freeware, but even better for Apple Consultants - Version: 2.5, 8/13/2008 11:28AM PST

Mac Helpmate's free features are excellent, and, who can argue with free?

But, I use the paid subscription portion of the app almost every day to help me address issues with my clients.

Pays for itself in gas alone, let alone how clients love when they can get me to login to their computers in just a few clicks.

Nothing special if you ask me. There are other tools that do the same. The company also makes Windows software and they haven't been around THAT long. The controls are a bit clunky as well. I tried to like but ended up tossing it after 5 months. :-(
