Sbooth Max CommentaryWOW - Version: 0.9.1, 9/1/2009 11:48AM PST

Thank you. Been looking for something like this for a while. Switch has bugs and sometimes causes drop-outs so I was in need of another app to do what this app does.

Sbooth Max ReviewThe swiss knife of audio conversion - Version: 0.8.1, 7/31/2008 05:17PM PST

It is true that the best things in life are free!

Max is an outstanding program that converts audio to a great number of formats, it uses the best encoders too. Every time I want to be sure I get the best quality from a cd that is not in the best condition and convert to mp3 (lame 256kps) or a loosles format, Max is the way to go.

The interface could be prettier and tagging still has some bugs, but I am sure this is just the beginning for something big.

Congratulations to the developer, keep the good work!

Works fantastic - downloaded flac-file, converted it to mpeg4 - apple lossless - had it automatically added to the iTunes Library - exactly what I was looking for! Thanks a lot!

Sbooth Max ReviewThere is a difference... - Version: 0.8, 4/10/2008 10:44PM PST

a noticeable difference between music ripped via Max and output to an Apple Lossless format rather than ripped using the iTunes Lossless encoder.

A little Audio Hijack Pro and its sounding mighty sweet in here.

Many thanks, great program! Would also like to see WMA option.

Running without a hitch in 10.5.

Sbooth Max ReviewPrice is right but a little bit unfinished - Version: 0.7.1, 12/26/2007 10:46AM PST

decadence

Max is great - so many codecs - doesn't crash my computer. But the tagging is a mess in comparison to iTunes.

A really pity as the author seems to be a very good coder and is extremely generous creating three high quality freeware audio applications (Play and Tags). I'd rather he charged something and finished up tagging with an option to pull in the iTunes tagging.

After hunting around, I recommend anyone looking for properly tagged Lame encoded MP3's use iTunes-Lame Encoder (now on Google code and open source after Alcor also lost interest).

I have also used/tested Audion (PPC only, also dead) and XLD-GUI (absolutely toxic).

Sbooth Max ReviewDoesn't work with Leopard 10.5 - Version: 0.7.1, 12/7/2007 07:02PM PST

This thing does absolutely nothing. What a piece of junk. There are no "formats" available to convert a file into. How are you supposed to use this software? Does not even work with Mac OS X 10.5.
