Sunrise ReviewRubbish ! - Version: 1.8.5, 5/30/2009 07:19AM PST

Type ANY URL into the appropriate field, this monkey-brain browser will take you to Google.

For me, that's a deal-breaker straight away. No point in examining further. End of the line for this tool.

Sunrise ReviewWhat's with the google thing? - Version: 1.8.5, 5/16/2009 01:25AM PST

Over a period I've tried a few versions of this because I was attracted by the words "browser for web developer".

The developer's site says "If the input text DOESN'T' have the URL scheme, it will be searched in web."

Unfortunately, if the input text DOES have the url scheme it still resorts to a search engine.

The only way I can directly access any url's is to start by hand typing the "http://" component.

What's with that?

I just downloaded and installed Sunrise and I'm impressed. It's built on the same source as Safari. Based on the number of releases the developers have had in the last few days, they are working hard to make this a really great browser. One unusual feature is that Bookmarks have an icon view of the page. Nice touch.

Sunrise Commentaryentering a URL - Version: 1.6.4, 2/24/2008 05:49PM PST

I'm using a MacBook Pro and MacOS X 10.4.11. I saw this app in the weekly VT updates email and decided to try it as a user, not developer. I visited several pages but noticed odd behavior when entering a URL. In all my Mac browsers, I use Cmd-L to highlight the Location field to enter a URL. In Sunrise, if I type "http://" after the second slash the field clears. What?!? If I enter something like "news.google.com" if works just fine completing the URL by adding the "http://" protocol prefix.

Is it just me?

Sunrise ReviewI'm really impressed!!! - Version: 1.5.9, 1/13/2008 12:30PM PST

The last version I loaded was 1.4.9 and there was a bug I reported to the developer: When saving a webarchive of a website made use of stylesheets (with @import) and background images (of layers), then neither the stylesheets nor the background images were included.

This bug is fixed now!!!

I don't know in which version (between 1.4.9. and 1.5.9) but it works great and even Safari can show these webarchives.

That's amazing, since Safari still has this bug (I reported it repeatedly to Apple with every new version/update)

Great work!

Sunrise CommentaryDeveloper's Source Code does not work for latest XCode 2.4.1 - Version: 1.3.5, 8/21/2007 09:02AM PST

I have twice emailed the folks at Sunrise browser about the fact that their source code failed for version 1.3.4 and now for 1.3.5 with 1 error, 5 warnings using the latest 2.4.1 XCode. It is true also that this browser is extremely fast, especially when testing my web site, Relativity Calculator [ www.relativitycalculator.com ], but to say that their source code works for developers is definitely not correct. I am using latest XCode 2.4.1 on my dual - 2.5 gig G5 Mac with MacOS X 10.4.9 and have optimized the directory with DiskWarrior but to no avail. I would still nevertheless recommend Sunrise browser as it holds some future promise as an extremely fast Mac browser. Don Saar, drdonzi@crocker.com

Sunrise ReviewStability Issues - Version: 1.1.3, 8/11/2007 09:09PM PST

I only get 4 minutes worth of use before it quits itself.

I have virtually no other background processes running, or have customised my MacBook in any way to interfere with any apps.

I actually like this browser as it accesses and allows me to view content other leading web browsers seem to have great trouble loading. I would like to make more use of it, but...

Developer - please address stability issues - thanks.

I'm only getting about 4 minutes worth of use out of this app before it quits itself.

Thing is, I actually really like it since its a lightweight zippy browser with all the basic and essential features. I especially like it's ability to access, and allows me to view, web content that many other leading browsers seem to have great trouble loading.

Developer - please make it more stable. Thanks.

Sunrise ReviewFAST!!! - Version: 1.1.3, 7/20/2007 03:39AM PST

The web developer tools are nice, but it is also just a nice broswer. At 1.1 MB- what in the world?!- this thing is amazing, and ridiculously fast! I recommend it to anyone who has experienced slow java games- or slow loading anything- because this browser loads everything almost instantly. Simply amazing.

Good job developer, and I look forward to the browser's future!

Just downloaded, and know for a fact this app is gonna be useful.

As someone learning (X)HTML and CSS and forever looking under the hood of every web page I ever access, SunriseBrowser seems to have been tailor made for my needs.

Outstanding!

Thank you.
