Product Description:

SDT was created to fill the author's need to shutdown a mac after a long unattended backup completed. Hope others find it useful. Enter the date/time to shutdown the mac and the administrator password. SDT does not provide a method of killing the shutdown once it is activated, so be sure before pressing the "set" button. To kill the shutdown use Apple's Activity Monitor, find the shutdown process and use the Quit button. It will ask you for an administrator password. SDT is freeware. No enhancements are planned and no support is provided.

I have used this program when I have something running that I know will end at a certain time, and I need the computer to shutdown after that. Quick and simple program that works.

SDT calls the system shutdown command which is exactly the same as using the command in the Apple menu. Enough said about that.

Some people commented SDT duplicates Apple's system preference functionality. Clearly, if that were true I wouldn't have written the utility. The system scheduling option (at least as of OS X 10.4.2) does not provide the capability to enter a specific date. While this might be minor for some usage, it can be limiting in others.

Imagine my surprise when, mario wagner, with www.pixelmanufacture.com sent me an application icon. Yes, I can write code but designing those icons is beyond my skills. Thanks to mario we don't have to look at a generic OS X application icon

There is no plan to enhance SDT because I'm hoping Apple will add this capability to the preferences scheduling option.

I don't get it. Isn't this already built into the Energy Saver System Preference? Just open it and click on the "Schedule..." button and violá!
