Video2Go ReviewDoesn't Play on the Video iPod. Sorry... - Version: 1.6.3, 5/5/2007 01:12PM PST

perkowski
I've converted several formats to transfer to my video iPod to take home and play on my plasma TV. So far not a single video plays on my iPod. It just flips back to the Menu. Damn, I so wanted this to work. I wanted to BitTorrent TV I missed.

Video2Go CommentaryJust use Handbrake instead... - Version: 1.5, 1/25/2006 07:07AM PST

Based on these reviews, I can't help but recommend using Handbrake instead. It's got a way more encoding options, it's reliable and best of all...it's FREE.

Video2Go ReviewDangerous bug!!! - Version: 1.2.4, 1/18/2006 01:01PM PST

I downloaded it and tested it and when trying to remove something from the list window of files to be encoded, I hit the 'trash' icon, believing it would remove it from the list. It instead DELETED the file from my hard drive. I looked in the trash and the file was not there. Unbelievable. How stupid is that?

Video2Go CommentaryNot completely Universal - Version: 1.2.4, 1/10/2006 02:30PM PST

Jack Black--2008
Jumped the gun a bit - ffmpeg in this version is not a Universal Binary so MPEG audio extraction will be pretty slow.

I think the 2 five star reviews by Murdog and desven are posted by the developer. Both of them only have 1 review each(this software) and they were posted 13 minutes apart, both wrote "Nice GUI".What are the odds?

Video2Pod has a pretty GUI, but it only converts video clips that are already QuickTime compatible. QT could convert those files too.

In my case, I have a bunch of ASF files from my digital camcorder that ffmpegX was able to convert to iPod ready files for me, but Video2Pod couldn't even touch them. I also have a bunch of video_ts folders ripped from DVD's that I would like to convert, chapter by chapter, into iPod ready files, but Video2Pod can't do anything with those either. Handbrake can convert the original DVD's and might even be able to convert straight from the video_ts folders on my drive. I'll try that later this afternoon.

Quite honestly nice GUI but it only converts into two formats.

Ya we all want video on our video iPods but there are
better porgrams out there, ffmpegx for video, Handbrake from ripping your own (those that you own) DVDs, converting it into a format that iPod can handle.

Handbrake is free and well ffmpegx is shareware that
is alot cheaper than this.

Video2Go ReviewUnstable! - Version: 1.0.3, 11/14/2005 07:45AM PST

I tried it on 5 different DV clips which where imported into iMovie HD 5.0.2 but Video2Pod crashed 3 out 5 times when exporting to file, that's a bit unstable to me. The main window contains only white previews of all the DV movie files, I don't know why it doesn't give me any previews like in the screenshot on Versiontracker.
