Product Description:

LaCie DVD Update Tool v1.4.1 is for d2 and Porsche 16x DVD�?�?â�?�š�?�??�?±RW DL (Double Layer) with LightScribe drives with IDE DVD DVDRW8651 mechanism; DVD drive firmware LT25 adds more media support and resolves random communication errors with latest LightScribe Host Software 1.4.xx.x or later. FireWire bridge firmware 1.02b (Oct 5 2005) improves audio playback through FireWire interface and better LightScribe support.

What's new in this version:

adds the latest firmware support for LaCie drives with FireWire 400 and 800 and/or USB 2.0 interface. LaCie DVD Update Tool will not update Ethernet Disk or LaCie eSATA-only products. There are separate updaters for these Ethernet Disks, and nothing to update for eSATA-only disks.

Note that this updater may perform multiple updates, depending on your hardware. On my system, with an external D2 DVD-RW DL, it took 3 or four cycles before it said my drive needed no further updates. Keep applying updates until the program says it can't find a drive requiring an update.

Updated one of my older LaCie firewire drives. But my other 2 usb dvd drives are already up to date.

Works great!

All instructions followed verbatim.

Tool reports firmware still at 2.0.8 no need for update.

Maybe no update is needed but 2.0.8 was put on the drive by the previous version.
