Product Description:

MegaSeg 2 is a MP3 and QuickTime mixer for mobile DJ’s, radio stations, and anyone who need more control over the music mix. MegaSeg features a library search and categorizing system to find requests instantly, crossfade, beat mixing, and multiple sound output support to cue or preview tracks.
New MegaSeg 2.1 features:
  • Display fonts can be customized.
  • New VU meters for setting levels.
  • Manual resize and Full Screen mode.
  • Drag-n-Drop support.
  • Improved Mixer controls.
  • Automatic Gain Control.
  • Increased Library size.
  • Easy iPod and iTunes imports

What's new in this version:

  • Added a play position bar for the Current song and Edit window for locating parts of a song quickly.
  • Added an import checkbox option to import all files into a category. It defaults to create a temporary import category based on the current date.
  • Added error trapping to prevent accidentally cuing a different Next song while the Mixer is playing.
  • Added new file options when removing a category. You can now remove or trash all files in a category you are removing.
  • Changed default volume to 255 to prevent clipping when using certain output devices (MOTU FireWire for example).
  • Default font size on OS X is now 12 point instead of 10.
  • Edit window's fast forward no longer resets to the start of the song when it reaches the end of the file.
  • Fixed bug when removing a song in the current play position would cause an error when trying to start the playlist again.
  • Fixed bug where some Genre ID3 tags were not recognized.
  • Fixed intermittent problem that caused the OS X pinwheel cursor to appear when using the Mixer's Cue button with a second output device. The OS X 10.1.3 update also solves the problem.
  • Improved filtering junk characters from Genre ID3 tags.
  • Improved the Playlist Settings and Set Output Device windows with tabbed buttons, to make it easier to navigate.
  • Category lists now scroll to display selected rows, and shows the scrollbar consistently.
  • Preview correctly changes tracks when using the arrow keys to scroll past the visible list.
  • The auto create categories feature is more reliable.
  • The Edit Categories menu command (Command-Y) now works for general editing when the Playlist or Library has the focus but no song is selected.
  • The Edit window's rename file option now preserves 4-character extensions (.aiff for example).
  • The Video window closes after the last video is done playing.
  • The VU Meter no longer flickers when the current song is paused.
  • More cosmetic improvements.

Megaseg have a good concept, Can use DJ, VJ & Radios, but with Megaseg the problem is that its development has stagnated, for example:

- Don't have automatic bpm detetctor

- Can't mix Videos, don't have transitiosn fxs

- Don't have the option to administer remote for make playlist in other computer and them send a load in master Megaseg Mac.

- Nothing about Digital Signage

- Slow mail support.

Megaseg can be a pro Software with more development, but i believe with the passage of time it could die, with as much competition outside

Hi,
I have used this app for my radio. I find it is difficult to use. It is also difficult to customise it.
What really annoys me is when the computer makes a back up of its files on a external HD, Megaseg start to have problems: music stop playing for a while then start again or it stop working and the only way to get out of this situation is to force it to quit and run it again.

I actually think this is a very good application. It does almost everything it claims. It is stable and has some very good features. My issue is that the support is bad. I had been in touch with the customer support (writer) who brushed me and my issue off and I have not seen a new version since... well look for your self... a year and a half. If you plan to use this application professionally, I advice you consider some of the other apps out there. Oh, I would also like to mention I feel I was ripped off due to the high price. these other apps only cost 1/4 of what this one charges. I thought I was going to get more for my buck, but I was fooled.
