...why does Trailrunner make multiple attempts to determine my IP address, by attempting to connect to sequentially several IP address lookup sites? Thank goodness for Little Snitch and proxy servers!

Version 1.6, also available at the developer's site, will work with 10.4, but not version 2.

On launch, I get a message saying it does not run on this version of OS X. I am on a dual G5 PPC, running 10.4.11. The description shows that it should run.
