Product Description:

iGroupCal is a Java platform servlet that allows iCal® users in a workgroup to share their calendar information through a single calendar. iGroupCal also works with any other iCalendar-compliant app such as Mozilla Calendar or Ximian Evolution.

Rather than publishing to a WebDAV server, iCal users can now publish their calendars to the iGroupCal server. All other users then subscribe to the iGroupCal server to receive the entire workgroup calendar in one single calendar.

While it can be used as a stand-alone product, iGroupCal is designed to work with GroupCalendarâ„¢ for Outlook® from OpusFlow, a workgroup calendaring solution for Microsoft® Outlook®. iGroupCal lets all Mac iCal clients quickly and painlessly share calendar information with their Windows®-bound colleagues!

What's new in this version:

  • PostgreSQL support added.
  • Added "dbCharSet" web.xml parameter to allow a DB character set to be specified in the web.xml file.
  • iCal 2.0 decided to delete the whole calendar every time it refreshes it. This caused unnecessary updating in the DB. Now iGroupCal waits 5 seconds after an iCal 2.0 delete request to see if it is followed by an update, and then only makes the necessary updates. If the update is not received, the calendar is deleted as usual.
  • Recurrences with a given number of repetitions (i.e. RRULE contains COUNT elements) should now be handled correctly.
  • "fieldMarker" parameter is now used consistently throughout the DB access routines.
  • Strings are now normalised to account for different OSes and DB characteristics.
  • User/Owner mapping is now handled correctly when deleting calendars.

iGroupCal Troubleshooting Reportbut can multiple users edit? - Version: 1.3, 11/30/2005 12:45PM PST

scifiguy
Sounds good, but is this simply another way to publish calendars in an office environment? What is the benefit compared to using WebDav? Can multiple users edit an iCal calendar? That is a product that is sorely needed.

Thanks

iGroupCal CommentaryName deceptively similar to GroupCal, but it's a different product - Version: 1.3, 9/26/2005 01:10PM PST

Note this is not the same as GroupCal from Snerd Software! I have tried and like the latter, but have not tried this one.
