Product Description:

Smasher streamlines font suitcases and cleans font caches to eliminate a variety of common font problems and improve the performance of Mac OS X systems Smasher enables users to view all fonts in a suitcase—including legacy Mac OS 9 suitcases that may contain numerous fonts from a multitude of families and foundries—and smash the suitcases into their smallest components. To smash a suitcase, users simply select it and click the Smash button, or drag suitcases or fonts to the Desktop or a folder. Smasher automatically creates new, more efficient and manageable suitcases. Using Smasher, users can: • Use smashed fonts with any font management utility or design application • Stop wasting system resources by activating individual fonts rather than entire suitcases • Improve system stability and reliability by verifying basic font integrity • Simplify font menus by creating smaller, more precise suitcases for activation • Examine and simplify Multiple Master fonts to extract them intact from suitcases • See individual fonts in the native typefaces • Compare contents of multiple suitcases • View file permissions and foundry information with a click • Keep bitmap and printer fonts together to ensure proper printing and PDF generation • Create Mac TrueType versions of Mac OS X dfonts for running Mac OS 9 and Classic applications Smasher also includes a module that cleans font caches to eliminate stale and corrupt copies of fonts that undermine OS and application stability and performance. Stale font caches cause problems such as incorrect text and font menus, false font corruption warnings, sluggish and unstable application performance, incorrect generation of PDF and Postscript files and poor performance. Smasher cleans font caches maintained by Mac OS X, Adobe Creative Suite, QuarkXPress and Microsoft Office. With a click or two, Smasher automatically cleans OS and application font caches and restores them to health. As a special bonus Smasher's cache smash feature for Mac OS is free in the trial version of the product.

Well, it can smash fonts into individual pairs... great for fixiing suitcases that contain several bitmaps when you no longer have all the postscript portions. The big problem is that you can't automatically have it smash into these single pairs by "selecting all". You must always manually select a single bitmap within a suitcase, then "smash" it, then select another single bitmap, etc. ONE AT A TIME. This is extremely tedious. How hard could it be to add a preference setting to "smash multiple selections into individual pairs"??? What good is a font smasher without automation?
