Nice little widget

I have been using it for several month. So far, so good. While it has basically all the functions I want, it is also very space efficient. It takes up very little screen space, and looks tidy.
Plus it is only $4.95! Highly recommended!

I had the same problem on my Macbook pro but I was using iStat nano. I'm sure its the same problem on miniStat2.
If you wanna get your temperature working, download CoreDuoTemp.
This widget has the Increw kernel built-in and it will install the increw kernel properly. Since I don't like the interface of this coreduo widget, I just installed another widget - iStat Nano. Now iStat nano use the kernel off of CoreDuoTemp and display the proper temperature.
Hope this helps.

Temperature Reading on MacIntels - Version: 1.81, 5/29/2006 01:31PM PST

The temperature reading on my new black 2GHz MacBook (black) is also broken. According to the developer, as indicated on his website, you must now also install InCrew's SpeedIt, a kernel extension that records processor temperature, if you want your Intel Mac's MiniStat2 temperature reading to function; however, installation of the SpeedIt kernel extension proved unsuccessful for me. After several emails back & forth with the developer, this is an excerpt of what he had to say:
"[Apple] hasn't implemented any drivers for Intel-Mac sensors yet, and SpeedIt just tries to read temperature value directly from a processor...Mac OS X protects itself by preventing regular applications and widgets of doing such things. The only place where software can read processor's internal states is the kernel extension (.kext module). This is exactly what InCrew did."
If InCrew's driver was working properly, then, with the kernel extension installed, MiniStat2 should also correctly report the temperature. I see from InCrew's website that their kernel extension has not yet been tested on MacBooks (only on the previously-released MacIntel machines), so that might be part of the problem.
Beware of kernel extensions that weren't created by Apple, however, as they could lead to kernel panics if they aren't functioning as advertised.
Other than the broken temperature reading, this is an EXCELLENT widget. The developer assures me that both white and black MacBook shells are also on the way! The developer is OUTSTANDING in his customer service and response time! A+++ as far as that goes!

Temperature Not Working on MacBook Pro - Version: 1.81, 5/29/2006 10:01AM PST

I upgraded to 1.81 and I still do not get a temperature reading on my MacBook Pro. The widget still shows the ?? where the temp should be. The developer lists temperature readings for intel macs as one of the additions to this update. Anyone else had success?

Calling home - Version: 1.7, 3/11/2006 07:07AM PST

Can it be that miniStat2 is calling home to the shockwidgets.com server? Have not checked that in depth, but will do so right now.
Besides this open issue miniStat2 is with Battery Hen and the Apple Weather Widget the best widget ever, imho.

miniSTAT2 version 1.6 broke the sensors function for me - Version: 1.6, 12/30/2005 11:32PM PST

miniSTAT2 version 1.6 broken the sensors function for me. It will always be at
0 degrees C or 32 degrees F.
I now rely mainly on the freeware program Temperature Monitor for my temperature sensor readings.
I hope that the developer fixes it soon.

Great multi-purpose widget

Definitely one of my most useful widgets. I know shareware widgets are not the norm, and I hope it stays that way, but this one does SO much it's worth the (small) fee. The developer is nice, and listens to feedback, too,
Highly recromended

One of the most useful widgits I've found yet. Done very nicely
I'd advise - steer clear if you're on a PowerBook. Otherwise, go for it!
