unPoster CommentaryAlso... - Version: 2.0.0, 5/13/2007 02:34AM PST

I've not tried this software and have no comments about performance, appearance etc.

But look at the price tag: Twice as much as Unison, a beautiful cocoa newsreader (funily enough made by Panic :)

Even if somehow this software is superior, judging by the comments already here the price point is unrealistic - especially when a very capable and very mac-like Cocoa application with a sweet GUI sells at $25.

unPoster Commentary00815 has a valid point - Version: 1.1, 5/21/2006 07:20PM PST

While 00815 definitely could have been more tactful and polite, he does have a valid point about the user interface. You have ported your Windows application to the Macintosh without regard to the Macintosh platform's user interface standards. It not only looks wrong, but behaves incorrectly too, as evidenced by your appearing/disappearing buttons. The users of each platform naturally expect a GUI that looks and acts correct on their computer. There are on-line and printed resources available to REALbasic programmers to ensure that user interfaces are correct for each platform. If you take advantage of them, you'll be more likely to be successful selling your application.

On the other hand, I haven't noticed any stability problems yet, so I have no idea what 00815 meant about that.

Disclaimer: I am not a "threatened competitor", nor am I "copying the unPoster in a panic right now". Despite the rudeness of 00815, those were very immature responses to him. If you expect to earn respect as a software vendor, you must learn to respond even to negative feedback in a calm, mature manner.

He sounds like a threatened competitor, and is probably copying the unPoster in a panic right now. The unPoster does quite a lot in "free mode", and is selling briskly despite that.
