Product Description:

Droffett is a drop application which "flattens" a folder, i.e. moves all files which are descendants of it so that they are directly inside it. (See accompanying screenshot for illustration.)

Droffett can also be used to collate a folder of files by extension. This process will place all files with the same extension into a folder named after that extension. Specify this option using the Preferences window.

Droffett is part of the Limit Point Software "Utilities Bundle" which includes all software at http://www.limit-point.com/Utilities.html. A single donation activates all the utility software, upgrades are always free and new products always included!

Droffett ReviewWhat a utility SHOULD be! - Version: 1.0.1, 9/24/2006 07:28PM PST

Wow! Droffett does what it says simply and without problems. I have hard drives with files that have been stored for years, meaning many duplicates. Trouble is some of them are so far deep into sub folders, it take forever. Droffett solves all that. Thanks for a great app.

Droffett ReviewInitial assessment: A-OK! - Version: 1.0.1, 3/1/2006 11:54AM PST

I've only used Droffett a couple times, and it works as advertised just fine on my Mac OS X 10.2.8 machine. Seems to be one of those "do one thing and do it well" or at least "do it without crashing and causing immense annoyance" programs. Two additional features would make it more useful -- 1) if instead of just not moving files that have the same name as files already in the target location, it would rename the files in a user=configurable way, or even just by adding a number like a lot of other programs do in a similar situation; and 2) it would be great if it could optionally rename or add to filenames the name of each files enclosing folder. So if you've got a bunch of folders with, say, student names, and each contains a set of files with identical names like "test01", "test02", etc. it would be good if Droffett could add the folder names to those file names, so you would end up with the "flattened" collected files having names like "Smith test01", "Macy test 01", "Fritz test 01".
