iList Data ReviewYeah, and SQL DB for me! - Version: 3.6.0, 1/27/2008 12:00AM PST

janetcanning
I had been searching for a better way to keep track of my small business customers with ease of use. I had recently had a computer melt down and had switched to Yahoo store for my business. I still like old fashioned mailings for sales anouncements and needed and easy to use and easy on the eye DB application. I had used SQL based DBs in the past and knew it was a stable environment for keeping records. The other DBs can get blips and singularities if they go over 500 records. So, SQL is good stability, especially as a one person biz, losing records and starting over is not an option. iList will be much easier to back up to iDisk for me!

I was happy when I found iList. Simplicity is the key when you are the only employee at your business! I had been at MacWorld and looking at Bento/Filemaker Pro and other DB apps and I don't need that many bells and whistles, and certainly not the bloated price on some of the other Mac based products.

Now, if I can just talk them into creating a plug in for Purchase Orders and Invoicing, which was the only other reason to consider other DBs. So, how about it? I like my Purchase ordering clean and simple;)

iList Data ReviewNice and easy DataBase - Version: 3.6.0, 1/10/2008 08:11AM PST

I was looking for a DB for private use and looked into Bento (new from the Filemaker people). This was not enough. On the other side Filemaker is too big and expensive. Now I found this IList Data, which is at least 90% of what I was looking for --- for a really fair price. Handling seems to be not always straight forward and consitent, but my first little apps worked fine. Some ideas for improvements I will post directly to the developer. Nice would be some more im/ex-interfaces especially for mac-typical apps (Mail, iCal, AdrBook, Numbers, ...). Support for applescript could be helpful.

iList Data ReviewiList - a most deceptively capable relational database - Version: 3.5.0, 9/17/2007 11:42PM PST

iList - a most deceptively capable relational database - wonderful. The support is first rate and its integration with Mac OS X is terrific.

At a small fraction of the price of Filemaker Pro bloatware - iList is cool.
Fanulous.

iList Data ReviewA solid product - Version: 3.5.0, 9/11/2007 02:22PM PST

I've been using iList Data for the couple of months to keep track of my inventory and orders at a wine store, and it's worked very well. The "bookmarks" feature, which stores the parameters of a search, is a huge time-saver for me, as is the ability to save different views of the same database. I've run into a few minor problems, but the support has been first class and all of the problems have been addressed.

I'd like to see an improved reporting capability and the ability to save more than 5 views, but the bottom line for me is that I spend hours every day using this program and it's been solid.

iList Data ReviewThe missing application - Version: 3.5.0, 9/5/2007 12:04PM PST

This fits in well with the Apple iWork08 suite providing an application which can handle serious and powerful database work without the complexity or price of Filemaker. It will suit the needs of both the casual amateur and a lot of professional users at a reasonable price.

iList Data ReviewJust Right! - Version: 3.5.0, 7/20/2007 04:58PM PST

I have been looking for a database program for some time. I could not justify the cost of FileMaker for my limited, but nevertheless not amateur needs. I was absolutely delighted to find iList Data. It's just the right program for me. I look forward to many years of using it. I can't think of another program that is nearly as talented unless you really need FileMaker.

iList Data ReviewExcellent alternative to Paradox for Windows - Version: 3.5.0, 7/14/2007 06:07AM PST

I was using Paradox for Windows since its first Windows version in the early nineties. At that time, it was THE expert relational database and to try it meant to stick to it.
I sticked to it, even if I tried 4D and had to use Access at work. Until I switched to Mac a month ago.
Paradox did everything I expected from a relational database and i know I was going to miss it in Mac world.

But I found a largely shared positive critics for iList Data. So I decided to try it.

Surprise!

iList Data does everything I used to do in Paradox. And even more since Paradox's development nearly
stopped with its sold to Corel many years ago. iList Data is very easy to use for beginners while it has all the features an advanced user of relational databases like Paradox for Windows needs.

Besides, Its integration with Mac OS X is what I was looking for too.

And that, for half the price of Paradox and a small fraction of the price of Filemaker Pro.
What a bargain!

iList Data Reviewrecommended - Version: 3.5.0, 7/3/2007 05:32AM PST

I was looking for a database program that I wouldn't have to spend $300 for, and one that I could use out of the box to keep track of my paintings and my clients. iList is both.

Wishlist - that I could re-order the input boxes (maybe I can, but haven't figured it out yet) and that I could output with the images. I imagine that that's another order of difficulty, and I found no other product at any price that could do it.

On the whole - very, very easy to set up and use. More than enough database power for what I need at a very affordable price.
