Product Description:

MathType works with any word processor, presentation program, page layout program, HTML-authoring tool, plus other types of software, to create equations for research papers, class materials, web pages, slide presentations, journal articles and books.

What's new in this version:

Fully compatible with Office 2004, including the Office 2004 30-day Test Drive.
Updated the Symbol font to address issues with certain applications (Office 2004, FontBook, Keynote, Curvus Pro X) (fixed in version 5.0a).
Word commands now always function properly on non-US systems (fixed in version 5.0a).
MathType 5.1 can now open EPS files containing TIFF and WMF previews created by MathType for Windows.
MathType's Symbol and MT Extra fonts now support bold/italic printing on OS 9 and in EPS files.
The Insert Inline Equation and Convert Equations commands in Word now work properly in Word's Outline view.
The Export to MathPage command in Word now handles colored symbols, equation borders and equation background colors properly.
The Page Up and Page Down keys now work properly in MathType.

except being UB now, could not find any improvements on UI or feature set since v5.1.

Copying as TeX causes error very often and unstable, especially when there are some accute or accents applied. Sometimes crashes when pasting or typing TeX expressions.

You may just call it v5.x but defintely not v6.0 with this much changes.

Please watch out your competitors, MathMagic and MathEq.

could not see any improvement over v5.1

MathType Installer did not work - Version: 6.0, 8/27/2008 12:56AM PST

Ran the installer on a standard up-to-date Leopard (10.5.4) Mac with Office 2004 and 2008 (with all the latest updates). It succeeded on Word and Powerpoint 2004 but there fails to OLE register in 2008 so that Word and Powerpoint 2008 still use the standard MS Equation Editor and do not recognize MathType equations. Reported this problem to Design Science almost 2 weeks ago, but as of today, no solution has been provided.
