Product Description:

A nightmare of both novice and advanced web developers is finding a misspelling in their work. What is worse is a client or an end user finding a misspelled word. You lose credibility and just generally look bad. The problem is that it is difficult to spell check a Web site -- that is where DreamCatcher comes in.

DreamCatcher is a nifty utility to check for spelling errors on a Web site. DreamCatcher moves through the pages of a given site checking both the text on the site as well as the text of linked Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF documents. DreamCatcher makes it easy to find where the misspellings are located on your site by highlighting the words in a web viewer.

What's new in this version:

Much faster and can handle thousands of pages now.
Added preference to control the language used for spellchecking.
Added ability to ignore or add words.
Added preferences dialog that controls added words list as wells search depth.
Added toggle to see list of all URLs found during spidering, not justhe ones that contain misspellings.
Added support for file:// type URLs.
HTML entities are now handled correctly.
Various and sundry fixes for issues that arose in real world usage.

it's a great product idea, but unfortunately, approximately worth what i paid for it. problems: (1) it has severe work priority problems. it takes up a ridiculous amount of cpu (though it seems to spike and be worse at some times more than others). it's taking nearly 150% of my dual 2.0 g5 according to activity monitor. (2) it sure would be nice to be able to stop the analysis and look at the results so far. if scanning a very large site, there's a cancel button, but no way to make it look at only part of the site (assuming everything in the web site is linked to everything else. this lack makes it near impossible to use it to scan a very large site unless i leave it running overnight when i don't need my computer. (3) a bit of documentation wouldn't hurt. i changed the maximum search depth to 2 levels but it's still scanning far deeper than that. (maybe it means 2 levels of each page that it finds?)

This is a well designed and extremely useful tool for anyone working with web design. While the major web tools all have a spell checker built in, I don't remember to always prrof my sites... This lets me do whole sites in a matter of minutes... pointing me to the offenses I've overlooked. Thank you!
