Product Description:

The SMS widget allows you to send text messages to mobile phones for free. You don't even need to have a phone at all! The widget works with most major carriers in the USA and Canada, as well as T-Mobile in Germany.

The SMS widget integrates with the Mac OS X Address Book, so you can quickly select friends to contact. After you send a message, the widget remembers your friend's carrier so that you don't need to enter it in the future! You can include your mobile number or email as the reply address of your messages. This lets recipients reply to your SMS messages.

A free website for sending text messages is also available at: http://keakaj.com/sms/sms.cgi

The widget currently supports:
  • Alltel, AT&T, Cingular, Nextel, Sprint, SunCom, T-Mobile, Verizon, Virgin Mobile, Qwest, and "Beat's Me!" in the USA.
  • Bell Mobility, Fido, Rogers, TELUS, and "Beat's Me!" in Canada.
  • T-Mobile in Germany.

What's new in this version:

  • Added support for SunCom in the USA.
  • Added support for Bell Mobility in Canada.

SMS ReviewStay away Big Time - Version: 3.7, 5/9/2008 02:08PM PST

The old widget worked great... the latest version is a disaster. I go straight to the Web site instead of using the widget. I has going to hack the widget to find a work around, but logically why would one spend time hacking a hack? I would recommend using the CallWave free product and not opt for the voicemail unless you like eating razor blades and having hot sand in your eyes. The money spent will not be cancelled out by the therapy paid for by your insurance company. Ride the free CallWave until they make you pay for it.

I downloaded this widget off of Apple's site because it was one of the "top 100" widgets... and it seemed pretty cool at first. I mean, who wouldn't want to hear their VMs via the Dashboard whenever you want?

Well... it's not that simple.

Yes. You do get to hear your VMs via the Dashboard, but the rub is you give up the option to hear them on your phone. You know, like you normally do? I assumed it was BOTH on your phone and the DB.. but no. Oh no. And there's no option to change it. Or fix it.

So I started getting complaints... "Hey... what's UP with your voice mail!?". "...are you still ALIVE??!" Etc. And then I was even missing messages...!!! So then, I finally decided to cancel the service. Which is VERY HARD TO DO.

But even after I got an email response giving me the "secret cancelation 800#" I couldn't cancel!

And then, not only did my VMs NOT go to my Dashboard via Call Wave, my VMs didn't go to my PHONE either!

So... right now, I am getting ZERO voice mails. Seriously. Zero. AAAGGGHAGHAGGHAGHGAAH!

Avoid this program with all your might.

Seriously.

Run.

Far.

Boo.

SMS Reviewwhat a joke .. I mean seriously what a joke this company is - Version: 3.7, 1/16/2008 12:00AM PST

Bad support . they lie. have no idea at least when calling there toll free number on the webpage what they are talking about.. HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT THE PRODUCT.. call center nightmare..

I mean they had a hard time speaking English . I hope other people do not take my word for there call service but call there toll free number themselves it sucks.. they say they are the company them selves .. I doubt because they are all in a big room and lots and lots of people talking behind the person that is talking to me.. they use some kind of skype service to get calls. toll free and the quality is so bad on the calls.. skype is great though.. They can not speak English very well. at least for me it was the case.. i they were the company why did they have to look up if it was usable on mac.. It was the worst exp I have had.. I mean I wold never use them. I asked if it is usable in europe with a European number and she had to look it up .. the woman I spoke to . had no idea what a mac was and then intel really confused her.. I think this company is a big job because there support is a call center I assume which is fine if they do not lie about it.. No we are the company then why do you not know any of my easy questions.. People please before saying anything about my comments try to call the toll free number on there webpage your self and you will see.. They suck. amaybe the product is good but they have the worst support I have ever had.. No one knew anything..
