Stay away Big Time

The old widget worked great... the latest version is a disaster. I go straight to the Web site instead of using the widget. I has going to hack the widget to find a work around, but logically why would one spend time hacking a hack? I would recommend using the CallWave free product and not opt for the voicemail unless you like eating razor blades and having hot sand in your eyes. The money spent will not be cancelled out by the therapy paid for by your insurance company. Ride the free CallWave until they make you pay for it.

I downloaded this widget off of Apple's site because it was one of the "top 100" widgets... and it seemed pretty cool at first. I mean, who wouldn't want to hear their VMs via the Dashboard whenever you want?
Well... it's not that simple.
Yes. You do get to hear your VMs via the Dashboard, but the rub is you give up the option to hear them on your phone. You know, like you normally do? I assumed it was BOTH on your phone and the DB.. but no. Oh no. And there's no option to change it. Or fix it.
So I started getting complaints... "Hey... what's UP with your voice mail!?". "...are you still ALIVE??!" Etc. And then I was even missing messages...!!! So then, I finally decided to cancel the service. Which is VERY HARD TO DO.
But even after I got an email response giving me the "secret cancelation 800#" I couldn't cancel!
And then, not only did my VMs NOT go to my Dashboard via Call Wave, my VMs didn't go to my PHONE either!
So... right now, I am getting ZERO voice mails. Seriously. Zero. AAAGGGHAGHAGGHAGHGAAH!
Avoid this program with all your might.
Seriously.
Run.
Far.
Boo.

Bad support . they lie. have no idea at least when calling there toll free number on the webpage what they are talking about.. HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT THE PRODUCT.. call center nightmare..
I mean they had a hard time speaking English . I hope other people do not take my word for there call service but call there toll free number themselves it sucks.. they say they are the company them selves .. I doubt because they are all in a big room and lots and lots of people talking behind the person that is talking to me.. they use some kind of skype service to get calls. toll free and the quality is so bad on the calls.. skype is great though.. They can not speak English very well. at least for me it was the case.. i they were the company why did they have to look up if it was usable on mac.. It was the worst exp I have had.. I mean I wold never use them. I asked if it is usable in europe with a European number and she had to look it up .. the woman I spoke to . had no idea what a mac was and then intel really confused her.. I think this company is a big job because there support is a call center I assume which is fine if they do not lie about it.. No we are the company then why do you not know any of my easy questions.. People please before saying anything about my comments try to call the toll free number on there webpage your self and you will see.. They suck. amaybe the product is good but they have the worst support I have ever had.. No one knew anything..

When I first discovered Callwave I thought it was the best idea for text messaging; so convenient on my computer and I used it frequently, and for ALL numbers.
Unfortunately, that came to an end when these folks cut off all messaging "internationally" and changed it to only local distribution, that is, messaging only within the US.
I would suggest that for a great idea like this the folks of Callwave do a bit more preparation before they launch a product like this. Of course it may cost a bit more to retain this feature of international messaging but why didn't they check into that before they set up this software? Terminating the feature to use this software world-wide, right in the midst of its popular use is simply bad planning and I would only hope that they will come up with a solution so that their users will be WORLD-WIDE again. They have lost a many subscribers. It's really too bad.

VT's comment-posting is garbage - Version: 3.7, 9/8/2007 08:47AM PST

I absolutely did NOT hit the submit button multiple times. I hit it once and switched to a different browser, knowing that it would take about 2 minutes to submit my comment. Of course, when I came back, it said "Lost network connection." I then visited the product page directly and saw that it had managed to submit my comment - multiple times!
Come on, VT, now that you've sold out to CNET, can't you at least finally fix these stupid slow-posting, multiple-posting problems?!?!?

OK - so change the product description here. - Version: 3.7, 9/8/2007 08:34AM PST

If it isn't free anymore, then the product description should not say that it is. Update the description instead of just leaving comments. If you don't have access to the product info because someone else linked to it form here, then contact VersionTracker and ask to have the product assigned to your CallWave user account.

bezbozny1: We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the change in Callwave’s SMS service. Unfortunately, due to overwhelming demand and costs, we are not able to keep international SMS sends free beyond the beta testing phase. Our service still provides the convenience of sending text messages from your computer and our flat fee international SMS rates are among the lowest available. Users can still send 10 free international messages. To send more you can purchase credits by clicking the message in the widget or going to callwave.com/credits
