iSpeak CommentaryWhy? - Version: 2.0, 1/19/2007 05:59PM PST

The author is to be commended for continuing to work on this product, which is now a Dashboard widget rather than a standalone application, but I cannot find a real use for it. It doesn't speak text in applications where I do my work, whereas the Mac OS and some applications themselves can do so it I need them to. ISpeak is little more than a cute toy. Most annoying, however is that the image the author uses for his widget is a rip-off of the robot in the movie The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Likewise the association of his widget with the iPhone in the image on Version Tracker is presumptuous in the extreme. He is almost certainly violating several copyrights.

the purpose seems more easily done by selecting the text and letting the Mac speak with the press of 2 or three keys or one button on a good programable mouse like a Logitech. Did I miss something in the description?
