Papyrus CommentaryBest WP on the market - Version: 12.56, 1/25/2008 12:00AM PST

A first class WP. I recently bought Microsoft Office 8 does not compare with this at half the price. Papyrus is fast, it has not crashed on me and creates exceptionally speedy Tables of Contents and indexes and you can make notes in linked databases, which is all writers want. Support is improving. It is very simple to export it to Word.

Papyrus CommentaryCaveats with Papyrus - Version: 12.56, 9/3/2007 09:54AM PST

This software is easy to use and nice looking but... 1) downloading, registering and updating are arcane and complex; 2) it is prone to crashes with slightly complex formatting; 3) even when I save frequently, when I shut down and later restart, text is lost. I would expect better performance for what Papyrus cost. NeoOffice, which cost nada, is more relialble.

I love the Germans. They always do everything right. Papyrus is one of my best word processors. Keep up the good work.

It is a good programme but the support is non existent. I have tried over and over again to get answers to various questions but it is rare to get an answer at all. Is there a user group anywhere for Papyrus ?

Papyrus ReviewBest Office solution for the Mac and Windows - Version: 12.56, 4/10/2007 12:09AM PST

Very nice piece of Software, with very usefull features. Not that usable for plain ASCII text as BBEdit, but much better for Office stuff than Microsoft Office or Neo Offce. Extremly fast and lean, but not a little application. I had never file problems with that, even not in very large documents. Word does all the time if you exceed 100 pages.

Papyrus Reviewjust a follow-up.... - Version: 12.51, 3/1/2007 10:19AM PST

to my previous note. the developer has since contacted me several times and has been very helpful. They also assure me that spotlight support is on the way. It remains a slow registration process, but I have to say the more I use this program (just for word processing) the more I appreciate its logic and flexibility. They have built into it features that make things just really easy, and I especially like the ability to attach comments to highlighted material. In fact, the ease with which you can do this, is the main feature that attracted me, and I find I use it all the time.

Papyrus ReviewIt is an excellent program... - Version: 12.51, 2/27/2007 11:32AM PST

but, for $99 you'd think the developer would respond to at least one of my queries. I think this is a first for me: just being ignored while I'm standing here waiting to pay. Too bad, I love the word processing program and would consider it an excellent alternative to other osx choices. The problem I'm having so far is that it doesn't seem to offer Spotlight support. I've emailed about this, but alas, no answer.

Papyrus CommentaryBEWARE! - Version: 12.51, 1/7/2007 05:53PM PST

The program seemed a good one in demo so I ordered and paid for it but I have not been able to download a copy because the developers sent the registration data needed piecemeal. They sent me the username in one email and said they sent the 8 digit registration code in another which I never received. I have since sent them three emails to every email address they have explaining my inability to access the download site because of this and have not heard a word from them. This morning I noted that they had charged my credit card. Based on this experience I am sure the support is terrible, but I have a more fundamental problem: obtaining the information so I can download the program I have paid for. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Papyrus ReviewSupport/dialog difficulties prevail against - Version: 12.19, 12/21/2006 11:10AM PST

I have to second the comment about poor-to-nonexistent dialog. The developer appears to have very fixed ideas, among them taking a dim view of potential customers who ask questions. The demo version is crippled by exchanging certain letters of equivalent width which effectively makes it impossible to trial the software on any real job. These days that is idiosyncratic and harks back to the early days of shareware -- but everyone else has moved on. Smaller developers compete very well by being proactive and customer-accessible -- not this one. A pity because there are innovative ideas, the app. handles wrapping text and graphics well unlike most others and the searchable .pdfs are a definite plus. But it is buggy and cranky, and I feel, overpriced as a result. I'm not sure the database adds much to the concept. And beware if you dare to raise these sorts of questions with the developer!

Papyrus ReviewGood Word Processor Awful support - Version: 12.19, 10/23/2006 04:54PM PST

This is an excellent word processing package marred by the most terrible support. You are lucky to get a reply in a week and the person who answers you does not seem to know very much about the application. Pity as it is a better WP than Word or Mellel.
