Product Description:

CPUswitch allows you to change the CPU speed setting (high/auto/low) of your Mac by a click. It shows the current speed setting, load of the last minute and the current CPU usage in percent. These values are not automatically updated to prevent unnecessarily consumption of CPU time.

What's new in this version:

  • you can now enable and disable NAP from the menu (needs Developer tools installed)
  • menu entry for downloading the latest .dmg image added
  • if system does not return expected values the application should no longer crash (but it won't update system information in this case)

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9

Additional Requirements:

    Mac OSX 10.3.9 or later
  • for NAP settings: installed Xcode Developer Tools

CPUswitch Developer Noteonly G4 CPUs supported - Version: 1.0.3, 3/23/2006 01:51AM PST

subcubus
The tool only supports the PPC G4 processors. As I found out, some G4 CPUs do not support the individual speed settings, this is handeled by the CPU itself.
Affected to this are the latest G4 15" PowerBooks with the 1,67GHz CPU, as well as some 17" G4 PowerBooks.

I think this would be a good program but I cant get it to work. I'm using OSX 10.3.9 on a 1.25 gHz G4 and get this error. An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down. This was true for 1.0.1 also.
