Product Description:

With the introduction of genetics, you can control your sims over a lifetime and pass their sims’ DNA down from one generation to the next. The sims evolve by genetically passing on physical and personality traits. Create and play your own virtual sitcom by choosing one of five different aspirations – Popularity, Fortune, Family, Knowledge, and Romance. These aspirations in life cause your sims to have wants and fears. Will you give them a long successful existence or leave their life in shambles? The Sims 2 also opens up endless new creative possibilities. Make your own sim films with the new movie-making feature. Create the cast, set the stage, take control of the camera and capture your own screenplay in action. Zoom in close with the new camera to see every last detail.

Adds native Intel support, universal binary
Fixes a problem rotating Sims with the mouse in Create-A-Sim mode
Prevents The Sims 2 and Body Shop from running at the same time
Adds the "Optimized Rendering" option to non-English preferences dialogs
Fixes a crash on quit under OS/X 10.4 with certain NVIDIA adapters
In window mode, prevents selecting a window size equal to or larger than the screen size
Fixes a problem running the game inside a folder having extended ASCII characters in the name
Disables the preferences menu after the game is running since nothing can be changed anyway
Zoom function now works with the "Mighty Mouse" scroll ball
Corrects terrain colors in the neighborhood overview

Problems with Rev D - Version: 1.0 Rev D, 4/13/2006 08:29PM PST

After I installed Rev D, I kept getting a message "A required resource was not found". I found that if I reinstalled Nightlife or University after applying the patch, functionality was restored.

Create-a-Family causes freeze in Rev C! - Version: 1.0 Rev C, 12/23/2005 09:10PM PST

The create-a-family section frequently causes The Sims 2 to freeze when using Rev C. The problem goes away if I delete the program folder and reinstall, but then I lose the other benefits of Rev C, such as improved framerate.

I recommend people use a non-updated copy to create families, and Rev C to actually play. Hopefully a new Rev D patch will address this.

The Sims 2 is playable again for me after installing the Rev. C update.
My system: Rev. A G5 iMac running Tiger 10.4.3.
I've not experienced any problems related to this update.
