Product Description:

Temperature Monitor Widget Edition is the Dashboard version of its "bigger brother" Temperature Monitor. It is recommended that you use Temperature Monitor first before using the widget edition to learn more about the sensor equipment of your computer. The applications are designed to give you access to all temperature sensor readings Mac OS X uses to monitor and cool your computer.

The widget allows you to select two of your computer's temperature sensors which should be displayed via Dashboard. The sensor readouts are displayed in a compact panel.

Unlike other widgets, Temperature Monitor is capable of processing the hardware calibration data Apple stores individually into each G5-based computer. So it displays the exact readings Mac OS X internally uses for cooling control, not just an "educated guess".

For detailed technical information about sensor discovery please see the developer's site.

What's new in this version:

  • Added support for new portable Mac systems with Intel T8000 processors.
  • Added temperature sensor support for the standard PATA hard drive of the MacBook Air.
  • Support for on-core temperature sensors of Intel processors based on 45 nm technology ("Penryn") has been modified: As confirmed by Intel, the core sensors behave no longer linear enough for the display of absolute readings in low temperature ranges. For this reason, support for core temperature sensors in 45 nm technology has been removed.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.4.2 or higher

Temperature Monitor Widget Troubleshooting ReportGoing back to 1.4 as 1.6 shows nothing - Version: 1.6, 5/6/2006 10:10PM PST

I installed 1.6, and it says "no sensors found", so I rescued 1.4 for the trash -- it shows one sensor, temperature for Smart Disk ... This is a step backwards. I cannot say that one sensor is all that important, anyway. 4-year old flat-panel iMac G4.
