Product Description:
MacENC is a full featured charting and navigation application that allows the use of the free NOAA S-57 ENC marine charts on your Mac.
What's new in this version:
- Support for Softcharts and BSB raster charts. "Raster Chart" on the "View" menu will display the best raster chart overlayed on the vector chart. Clicking on navaids on the raster chart will display the underlying vector chart navaid information in the Navigation panel. In the MacENC help "Opening Raster Charts" explains how to add a raster chart FOLDER to the Chart Manager or follow this link.. http://www.gpsnavx.com/MacENC/help/openingraster.htm
- "Large Text" on the "View", "Objects" submenu will make the chart object text larger.

This the only ENC displayer on the Mac platform as of now. I'm very thankful that it exists. ENC charts are nautical chart database made available for free to the public by NOAA. These databases are the basis of vector charts that's becoming increasing popular (as oppose to raster charts). There are many PC nautical charting softwares but precious few for Mac, let alone one that can display ENC files. There is much room for improvement but it's a very good initial effort.
The sample chart included is for a very small region, you can go to noaa's website: http://chartmaker.noaa.gov and download ALL the charts for every major U.S. port (~300 MB). The demo version happily reads them in.
I'd give 5 stars for this unique and very useful program, but the performance is a little too slow on my iBook G4 (800 MHz), so I have to give it 4 stars.

Drag the ENC_ROOT_DEMO folder to your Mac
Launch MacENC
Select "Add Catalog" on the "Chart Manager"
Select the "Catalog.031" file in the ENC_ROOT_DEMO folder on your Mac
Select a Cell, then "Scroll To" to view it.
