It still doesn't work... - Version: 1.0.6, 1/11/2007 03:14AM PST

I dropped a file on the app, and got a ten second nag window telling me my trial ends in "about 10 days."
Eventually I get a window which says "Drop a file, folder or volume on the application or this window to set the type and creator."
I already did the former to no avail, and the window disappears too quickly to do the latter.
The bottom line is that I have yet to see this thing actually do anything but disappear real quick on a PPC running 10.4.8.
On another note, a refresher on the concept of Donationware: The user makes a donation, IF he CHOOSES to do so. REQUIRING a donation before the user can obtain a REQUIRED registration is just plain tacky. I'm certainly not going to be donating anything until it works.

...just how well this thing would work. One must be pretty darn quick at making decisions before it dismisses itself. I dono't need a race, I need simple file type/creator utility.
Promising, but...

- Can't set wild-card input attributes and duplicate the app to make pre-set droplets. I'd like to have a droplet, say, that will convert anything dropped on it to a Photoshop JPG, and another that will convert anything to an Excel document, for instance.
- Can't show a file's attributes while also configuring the droplet, you have to switch back on forth between modes - unusable.
- Can't copy attributes from one file to another.
The all-time best utility for this function was FileTyper under OS 9:
<http://dazuma.freeshell.org/filetyper/index.html>
It did everything you could possibly want and did it very very well. I would really like to see someone come up with an OS X equivalent. A Better Finder Creator and Type is too slow, FileWiz is too limited and can't batch, FileMatch is powerful but awkward...

Pres!
Very fast, does what it says it does.
What I'd like is the ability to limit the changes based optionally on the filename extension rather than the type/creator, as more of my files simply lack any metadata than have incorrect metadata.
But you can't give it points off for a feature it never said it did!

I have noticed that this developer has posted a number of programs to VT over the past few days. All of his programs are listed as "commercial", but the price is listed as "donationware". But, then we discover that the so-called donation is really a forced payment. You must make a donation in order to get a password in order to use his programs. In short, these programs are not donationware. In fact, they are not even shareware, because you can't even try before you buy. In short, his programs are in fact commercial software, no matter how inexpensive they may be. I think the developer needs to obtain a better grasp of terminology, and not try to play mind games with the potential users of his products.
