I used coconut battery for about a year now and it was great in 2.5 and 2.5.1. But I upadated it to 2.6.1 (didn't use 2.6) and now it's a CPU hog. When i start up coconut battery on my C2D Macbook the system% goes from 1-3% up to 75-83%. I did not notice this in 2.5 version. I checked activity monitor and there are about 12-13 ioreg processes listed. Most of these ioreg's range from 8-12% with a few at 1-2%. It cause my cpu temp to jump 10-15 degrees celsius and my fans to increase.

This should not happen with a simple battery monitor.

I'm using leopard though that should be a factor since 2.6 and on was suppose to be leopard compatible.

coconutBattery CommentaryAnother new version, what's new, and where's the widget? - Version: 2.6.1, 3/21/2008 05:22AM PST

Not sure what's new with this version, and still no widget as part of this download. It's just the app (which works fine, btw, on my 10.5.2 MacBook Pro)(2.4 gHz)

Also, I emailed the developer, about two weeks ago, and received no response.

Fine. Don't come crying to me about nobody donating towards your software.

Maybe I'm just a moron, but I'm not seeing the widget as part of this download. I got the app fine, runs great, but after poking around, still can't find the widget!

coconutBattery ReviewNot Working - Version: 2.5.1, 3/1/2008 01:29PM PST

I have tried the new version 2.5.1 and found that on two Powerbook G4's (1.33Ghz and 1.5Ghz) the information is incorrect. It overstates the current capacity and understates the battery life. I would like to get the prior version to use again.

coconutBattery ReviewSpins my CPU's up to close 100%!!!!!! Not good for battery life - Version: 2.5.1, 6/27/2007 01:38PM PST

Hmmmm

I have no understanding why this is happening but on my MacBook Pro 17inch when I launch Coconut Battery my my CPU's spin up to 80% plus utilisation.

This is a REAL drag on battery life.

I have also tried Battery Health Monitor and this works fine.

Maybe its just my machine but beware.

Robin

i have been using coconutbattery for over a year and it is everything you could want [in a utility that charts your battery usage...], low impact, minimal memory usage, simple but pleasing grafix; it is the whole package. it almost makes watching the slow and untimely death of my macbook battery enjoyable [almost]. thanks for this.
