The game looks gorgeous on a Quad Mac Pro at 2560x1600x32... Unfortunately, voice-overs completely cut out after the 4th or 5th person (when using OpenAL, which, to be fair, you are warned about "sound dropouts" with this version of OpenAL). However, the game exits back to the title screen when you try and go to the next area (Mars Underground), making this version unplayable.

I played Doom 3 after it was released with my powerbook G4 1.67 GHz with 1.5 GB RAM. Under high (and of course ultra) settings the game was unplayable. The presence of enemies would drop the framerate to the 1-5 per second range. Now it runs very well, with no real hinderance in gameplay under high settings with 800x600 resolution. Somewhat strange is that a consistant drop of framerate can be fixed with a restart.
