Product Description:

A slipbox is really just this: a loose collection of slips stuffed into a box. Each time you have an idea that seems worth remembering you scribble down a note on an (electronic) slip and put it into the box. Then you forget about it. When the time comes that you need those ideas the functionality of the program helps you to quickly find relevant slips and, what is more, relations and links between different slips by associative searches.

What's new in this version:

  • Added the Transformations submenu in the Edit menu, which seems to be the standard in Snow Leopard
  • Slip type column in search results table
  • Slip ID, Flagged, Keywords columns are optional columns in search results table
  • Selection for the Slip Template is saved in the file
  • Option to check for plug-in updates when launching SlipBox
  • Contextual menu item for tables: Initiate Keyword Search
  • "Search In SlipBox" Service appears under "Searching"
  • Services again appear by default in the Services Menu
  • Slip Scents are updated when the Keywords of a Slip change but not before the document is saved
  • "Suggest Slip" function does not switch to recently suggested slips, which often led to short circles of suggestions
  • The Current Slip changes it's text font when the default Slip Text font is changed in the Preferences
  • Changing a slip's author also changes its last modification date
  • Dragging a URL into the Slip Text field uses the surrounding font for the inserted text
  • Many minor improvements of the interface
  • Folders are imported recursively
  • Double click on image shows Inspector if is not already open
  • Right-clicking on a table selects the row on which the click occurred
  • Fixed downloading of plug-ins
  • Restored ability to resize images
  • Undoing changes to a slip restores the last modification date of the slip in most cases
  • Installing a plug-in via double click works again
  • Fixed an bug in redoing removing a Slip
  • Flagged status of slips is correctly updated in all Extra Slip Windows and all Box views
  • When creating a new Slip, the default font is set for the Slip Text if no template is specified
  • When a new document is created, the slip text uses the specified default font
  • Inspector's resize image view is shown on program launch if it was the visible view when app terminated
  • Plug-in table in Preferences shows complete icon again
  • Updated the Importer for Spotlight, so results of Spotlight searches show correct results for Slips under Snow Leopard
  • Information shown in Extra Slip Windows is updated when the content of the Box window is updated
  • Slip Text does not change its position when the document is saved

I have been using SlipBox since early October and am more and more pleased by it. And Spotlight seems to have no problem with it either. I use it for simple things like iTunes receipts, complicated projects involving information pulled from a lot of different web sites, almost all the info I want to store somewhere and be able to find again. Since I can define Type (i.e., Receipt) and Source (i.e, iTunes, VersionTracker) and add whatever keywords seem crucial to a search or memory jog, I can work a lot faster and not have to wonder whether I can find an item later. And SlipBox is not a CPU drain nor a memory hog. It is a good program that does what it says it will.

SlipBox Commentaryvery useful app - but did spotlight stop working in 0.7.2? - Version: 0.7.2, 9/15/2006 07:48PM PST

been using 0.7.1 for a little while and finding it great way to organise
and search my usually disorganised notes.
I use shift-cmd-M (paste selection into a new slip) and using spotlight to search. Slipbox does more than this, but this is the feature that really saves me a lot of time.

If you havent tried this app and want something quick then give it a go.

Spotlight seemed to have stopped working for me on 0.7.2 though? - reverted back to 0.7.1 and I'm happy again.

Downloads, installs, runs (or should I say "launches"?). Otherwise, it just sits there doing nothing. Tried every command that wasn't greyed out, and absolutely nothing happened (OS X 10.3.9).
