Great app, but .... lacks syncronization - Version: 2.3.4.2305, 10/4/2009 04:31AM PST

Since I read RSS both on the Mac and the iPhone, I have been forced to move from Vienna to something else which provides synchronization. Hope this functionality will be added soon as I'm not happy at all with the replacement I have found (NetNewsWire 3.2)
NNW Replacement?

I am looking for a replacement for NetNewsWire since its MobileMe syncing will be dropped (and Google Reader is not a consideration for me). Although Vienna lacks some of the features of NNW, it is serviceably clean and crisp. After a few days of testing I feel quite comfortable with it. Since it is open source, I may even try my hand at some hacking. Additionally, AppleScript support is perfectly adequate for accessing APIs like Twitter, tumblr, Instapaper, et al, and its database can presumably be rsync'd to other machines using launchd, and so on. All in all, a nice piece of software and worth your time for a few days test drive.
I hope the Vienna developers see the current direction of NNW as an opportunity for them to have the #2 reader people will be looking for.

Great product, great price-value!
Easy to use, regularly updated, localized, free. What else could we ask for?
You can select multiple styles, make your own smart folders, etc.
The only regret is that it would be nice to be able to select different views for each folder/feed.

Isn't in eye level with NetNewsWire

Used Vienna now since about seven month and have to say that it still can't replace Netnewswire. It's slower, has a lot more bugs and can't correctly handle all me feeds. I liked the latest revision that also speeds a little bit up but 'the original' is still the better choice - even when Vienna is for free and NWW is costly.
Very nice

I've used a few of the 5 star RSS readers from Version tracker. This one works the best for me. Easy to set up, easy to use, great preferences, nice GUI. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for an RSS reader.

Vienna is an excellent RSS News Reader, however, V 2.2.0.2206 which works flawlessly on my MacBook Pro C2D OS X 10.4.10, does not work on Panther (10.3.9 PPC,) the latest version of 2.1.3 (2111) does indeed work fine on OS X 10.3.9.
Great Reader

This beta is a significant update to what was already a worthy reader. Love the new look and features (especially the tabs).
Vienna is great and its free

I have been a faithful NewsFire user for more than a year. This is the first free app. I have tried that can stand up to, or beat, NewsFire. If you haven't paid for another RSS reader, give Vienna a try. If you have paid for one, give Vienna a try anyway.

Over the last months I've been using Vienna and NewNewsWire Lite.
NetNewsWire Lite has a nicer interface, with a customizable toolbar, and is a little faster.
Vienna, although not so so fast and not so "beautiful", does just the same. And it does something more: it has a built-in browser. You can read the full news without opening an external browser. To have that in NetNewsWire, you have to pay 30 dollars for the full featured version.
Although I prefer the look and speed of NetNewsWire Lite, I use Vienna more often because the built-in browser is a plus.
And let's not forget that Vienna is completely free!
(But that's just my opinion. Everybody else has the right to think any other way.)
