I am using the latest release of this which is one of the buggiest piece of software I have ever seen. It frequently stops working and you then have to use Force Quit to close the programme. The GUI simply does not interact properly with the Mac OS 10.4+ Macintosh users are simply a priority and the updates are few and far between. User support supplies nothing but formulaic answers - such as 'download the latest version' when one has done a hundred versions already. I will not be renewing my subscription.
Works well with GPRS

Contrary to the other reviews here, I've found ONSpeed to work quite well.

I had to use my iBook away from a fixed line for 2 weeks, so had to resort to using my mobiles GPRS connection.

A shame maybe that you can't compress your e-mail client mail, but its not like there isn't a workaround (mail2web anyone?).

The compression worked (to a point), it was certainly faster than a standard GPRS connection, in fact faster than a dial-up connection.

The big question of course is 'Did It Save Me Any Money?'. Well the answer is probably no. I DID save around 15 pounds on my phonebill, but factor in the 25 pounds I paid to use onspeed (one year subscription for only 2 weeks use, natch) and it did cost me more money.

But it saved me quite a lot of time, gave me a lot more browsing for my data bills and was never buggy or glitchy in my experience (although I seem to be running 3.1.44)

Maybe if I need to use the app again within the year, and I save more money on my phonebill I might score it more highly.

I would recommend this to the following groups:
- Away from desk workers who need a net connection and can't get 3G
- Dial Up users who out of range of a broadband line (although you might want to leave image compression off).

However, I recently bought an Intel MacBook running Leopard 10.5.2 and ONspeed does not work at all with it. They have done an update which is not listed but this is not a Universal Binary app and it does not work at all for me, nor does the old V1.0 app. All that happens is an error 505 message.
My main complaint though is that (as someone has already stated on here) technical support is rather like talking to the speaking clock. They will not answer a simple question (has this app been tested with Leopard and is this a known problem?) and simply churn out the same advice over and over, which is basically un-installing and re-installing and re-setting the user name and password. My request to speak to someone was refused point blank.
Absolute RUBBISH! They should be ashamed of themselves.
