I tried eyehide for a month. Being not satisfied, I removed it and the "hidden" folder. Result: lost video and corrupt directory.

As suggested by lP15, the OS X Disk Utility lets you set up an encrypted Disk Image that gives you a simple, straightforward and rock-solid solution. No disappearing files. Works for me.

eyeHide ReviewThe .Folder technique is not effective - Version: 1.9.2, 3/7/2006 01:14AM PST

...as I use an utility to open the Apple-Menu, and there at the top I have listed the "Secured Folder" and can even navigate into it. That's not security! Of this or all the other programs. OS9 had a Drop-Program to encrypt files as part of the System, and that was effective, and OSX-File-Vault goes too far encrypting everything. A stable drop-encryption program is what is best, or as the former user suggests: <Open Disk Utility. Create a password-protected disk image of any desired size. You are done, for free.> If that is a stable solution, it seems best.

I tried this application and quickly lost 4 folders (4gigs) of data. Until I can figure this one out, this app is a loser-beware!

I will not rate this product as I never used it. I just played around with it for an hour. Look at Ghost Sphere. It is much more functional, bug free and the Pro version even offers true encrypted vaults. This is no comment against eyeHide, just a hint to look for.

eyeHide ReviewProblem with spaces in path - Version: 1.5, 6/16/2005 04:29PM PST

Unfortunately, EyeHide doesn't behave well with a target folder that has a space in the path (even if the target folder itself does NOT contain a space in the name). EyeHide gets confused and even though it creates the hidden folder, it says that there is a problem, and thinks it has not created the folder. So when you try and create the same one again, it complains saying that it already exists.

I think it should be a simple fix, but I guess I'm a little surprised given that what the app is trying to do is pretty straight forward and the scope of testing such an app should be quite small - but clearly wasn't tested for variations of path names.
