After visiting the developer's site, this really isn't worth $70 by a long shot. First off, it doesn't provide you with ANY bird songs. You have to own the Stokes Field Guide to Bird Songs: Eastern Region in order to use this software. Apparently all this software does is organize the songs into categories making it easier to find the bird you want.
This would be very useful if you loved birds, had and iPod, owned the CDs. But $70 is way too much for me. Maybe $10-15 would be more reasonable.

I've done the same just using the CDs and putting them on my ipod like any other albums. Is this somehow better?
It seems pretty simple for $69, but there's a lot more to this software than meets the eye.
The developers are birders and have taken great care to create a product that is supremely useful in the field. It's clear from using the product that much thought has gone into it.
Yes, you could do this yourself, but it would take a long time to make all the useful tweaks and fixes that are already here.
This is a product for serious birders. Casual users might be better off just using the Stokes CDs and stepping up to birdPod later.
