No ANSI Graphic Support - Version: 11.46, 10/6/2008 01:36PM PST
WunderWerkz Software
Like a number of other terminal emulators I have examined recently, MacWise seems to be a very nice program for what it does; however, while it does support ANSI colors, it does not support the extended ASCII character set, i.e., ANSI characters, such as are used on PC-ANSI based BBSes. If you don't understand what I am talking about, just use MacWise and go to an IP address like this one, using port 23: 202.128.20.175. As you will see, the ANSI characters are not displayed properly. Now, use SyncTERM, (available here on VT), and see what happens. Surprise! That is the way it is supposed to look! Thus, for the time being, SnycTERM still remains the king when it comes to old time BBSing. Thanks Deuce! :)

Once I installed this on my iMac, I was able to get ride of my Wyse terminal. Not only do I have more desk space, but being able to use this on my Mac is a godsend. Rich is so responsive to any problems that he clearly stands out in a world where service is no longer a priority for most companies. I have seem other "terminal emulators", but Rich has clearly refined his product over the years to make it the best. My partner has an emulator on his Dell that provides a very small window with no color options. Having a large window with all kinds of customizations is a real plus when you have to use the product for hours on end.

Tried using this to connect to the console port on a raid subsystem. First launch after install gave me a ton of errors. Quit and relaunched; app froze "checking connections". Couldn't force quit from the keyboard, activity viewer, command line...finally had to reboot my server. Luckily this machine is offline and isn't live.

This has worked like a champ. Connections to my WYSE 50 server at the office have been stable and allowed me to work from home whenever I need to. And the couple of times I've had questions for Rich, I've heard back in minutes.
Arbitrary Baud Rates - Version: 10.6.8, 12/12/2003 05:44PM PST

I work in a microcomputer lab environment where baud rates can be anything but standard, is arbitrary baud rate support in the future on MacWise? I know that USB to serial adapters based on FTDI's chip set now claim to support arbitrary baud rates.
This is an awesome product!

Sure maybe I could go and buy a terminal for 50.00 but then i wouldn't get such terrific support as rich offers. e-mails get answered in 2 minutes. problems get fixed just as fast. Checkout how many updates this guy has fixed.

character map is same as a real terminal. There are some options that affect graphic characters. To make your graphic characters work correctly for your host, check these settings in MacWise: Try selecting International Characters from the Emulate menu and check the box that says Wyse Multinational Characters. If that does not work, try DEC Multinational Characters. If that does not work, try the IBM set in International Characters. Unchecking "Strip 8th Bit" can also have an effect on graphic characters.
If this TV925…

or TVI925 emulation ? Because if this is a TVI925 emulation then characters map is different from a real Terminal. Also F keys dosen't seem to be map correctly.

no doubt but at $95 it would be cheaper, surely, to go buy a s/h Wyse Terminal? The old addage still applies - Half the price - triple the profits.

use of colours, but I hate the function keys appearing at the bottom of the screen. When you switch them off it is really easy for them to re-appear for no aparent reason. The other thing I would like is to be able to switch off the alert sound (Beeps). Of course multiple sessions are also on my shopping list. This programme is much faster than PowerTerm, but it is still a long way in terms of development. Powerterm does not support Modem, so I am refering to telnet. I am also loosing some data on some screens, I am not sure what the problem is VT100 mode, I think it is a control or escape character that is causing difficulties. I really hope that the development continues a pace on this product. Oh I would quite like to passrows protect and hide all the settings from the users if that could be an option.
