Miana does a great job for changing file dates. Simple to use, reliable and fast. I used to use A Better Finder Attributes but was frustrated by the bad interface and bugs. Miana makes me happy. I will make a donation because the author deserves it.

Miana is perfect for fixing mod/create dates! With Bump Time Forward/Backward, I can fix pics I've snapped but forgot to change time zones on my digital camera.
Developer is friendly and responsive to enhancement suggestions and support!

Well it was only two days ago that I posted a negative review due to my own misunderstanding of how this app worked. At the same time I emailed the developer.
Well, Joe got right back to me, but even more impressive he posted a new update which clarified the issue I had within 24 hours!
So now I am not only impressed with this handy little app, but with the developers commitment to supporting his offerings. AND all this for a freeware app!
My hat is off to you Joe!

After having a brief and friendly email exchange with the developer I discovered that it wasn't a bug in the app, but user error at fault. :)
Basically, you can't change the "date modifiied" attribute to a time earlier than the "date created". Without realising it, that is exactly what I was unsuccessfully trying to do.
Joe said he'll work on a warning dialog to let users know if they're attempting to do this.
So, all in all... this handy little app delivers exactly what it says it does, easily, neatly, and efficiently.
Highly recommended. :)

Well, I just downloaded this specifically to change the "date modified" attribute of some folders and it's able to do this... but ONLY if I change the date created as well.
When you set the date you wish you have a pull down menu that gives you the choices of "Modification", "Creation", or "Both".
Selecting "Modification" didn't do a darn thing after multiple attempts, with multiple dates, on multiple folders.
Selecting "Both" works fine... but I really don't want to change the creation date as well. :-/

after running a finder script I wrote for a day-and-a-half on the first 15 GB of files that needed their modification date changed, I found this and it polished off the remaining 5 GB or so in minutes. not many options (might be nice if you could choose to do just files or folders, sub-folders or not, etc.) but disgustingly fine at what it does.
