Oh I so do not want to see another one of these AppleScript system maintenance apps. Cor! Crikey! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Use AppleJack. Use CLIX. Hey - use even *censored*tail if you were dumb enough to buy it and still have it around. But just GROW UP!

EUR 5? for something that should be free because it can be done in the terminal or script or by using another free app...

rootMachine 1.9 is the best version yet. It has so many new features that I can't begin to list them and it works perfectly. It seems to launch more quickly than previous versions and certainly much faster than Cocktail.

I am having a problem with Cocktail (not Cocktail's fault, but that's a long story) so I tried rootMachine 1.5. If the user opted to run cron jobs and repair permissions, it did them in the reverse order (permissions should be repaired afterwards because one of the cron jobs mucks up a permission). I emailed the developer that day and not only got a response within 12 hours, but version 1.6 was released with the problem fixed!
The interface is very intuitive and it is well worth the donation of €5.00.

The cron daemon is no longer used for scheduled tasks in 10.4, so having a utility with cron functionality require 10.4 seems a little weird. Everything's done through launchd now.
