While not a widget, Moon Menu 3, accessed via the Menu Bar, is much more informative allowing past and future access to each month's lunation.

No documentation. I wanted to know future phases. Actually i wanted to know the dates of future full moons, etc. There is a little calendar that pops up and you can change it months and years with the arrow keys but clicking on it seems to do nothing, and never moves the yellow date marker. It would be great to get a moon phase chart so a particular phase could be easily found.

Well, it's not over priced.

The number displayed in the disk is the lunation
to learn more about lunation:

I like that this widget does not need to connect to the net to do its thing.
