Product Description:

Have you ever experienced the tedium and frustration of having to repeatedly type your name, e-mail address, home page url, and other words or phrases again, again and again? Or do you frequently need to quickly insert images like your signature, location plan, or company logo into documents? Do you often introduce errors when retyping standard business text?

Typinator boosts your productivity and eliminates errors by automating the process of inserting frequently used text and graphics.

Configuration is easy - You just define abbreviations and their replacement text or picture.

Usage is even easier - Whenever you type one of these abbreviations in an arbitrary application, Typinator inserts the corresponding replacement.

Drag-and-drop import from Textpander, TextExpander, and TypeIt4Me makes migration to Typinator a no-brainer.

Save your time and annoyance and let Typinator type repeating texts and pictures for you.

You can use Typinator to...

  • quickly type greeting phrases,
  • set up a list of standard text fragments to be used in e-mail replies,
  • insert the current date and/or time in arbitrary formats with a few keystrokes,
  • Auto-correct your most frequent typos in all applications system-wide,
  • "type" pictures, such as smilies or bullets,
  • insert Unicode symbols by typing a few special regular characters (e.g., type "->" to insert an arrow symbol),
  • define shorthands for frequently used Unix commands,
  • quickly create templates for code fragments, if you are a programmer, and more

Typinator ReviewGreat program, but has a conflict with Butler - Version: 3.0, 5/19/2008 07:34PM PST

Typinator is great, especially given that it includes auto-correct on lots of words, with the option to install an even bigger set of common typos. It's incredibly helpful for any number of repetitive tasks. One thing I have is my credit card number accessible with a short key sequence, as well as email address. Plus lots else. I used Textpander (earlier free version of Textexpander), which was fine, except no auto-correct. Plus, when I paid money for Typinator, I felt I needed to leave Textpander behind. Only problem is a conflict with Butler, also a fabulous and free application that I need to donate to, where snippets called up with Typinator are added to the Butler clipboard item list, which can get a little confusing and very annoying. However, after emailing both developers, it appears they may be working together on a fix. I'll be looking for an update hopefully soon on either or both of these apps.

Reinventing the wheel again or just trying to make money off of other folks ideas.

CopyPaste with Y-Type does this and more like multiple clip boards, and it came out even before iClip and OS X.

Over the years, I have used many different text expansion utilities, starting with TypeIt4Me under Mac OS 7.

Typinator 2 is, along with TypeIt4Me, the best program I've used for that purpose.

Right now, it has even replaced TypeIt4Me on my Mac, as I find it a bit more reliable.

As part of the Macitility Productivity Bundle, the price of this utility is also quite reasonable.
