Product Description:

Throttled Pro provides weighted network queues (WF2Q+) that guarantee bandwidth for all your essential network services like web browsing, email, and online gaming. In addition, it provides ACK packet priority which speeds up downloads when you are sending out a lot of data. This combination assures that you get the most out of your internet service.

Features

- Provides instantaneous response for SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, POP, IMAP and VNC connections. Also allows you to prioritize any other internet protocol you want to remain responsive under heavy load.
- Includes optimizations for many online games including Unreal Tournament 2004, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, Ghost Recon, Starcraft, Warcraft II, Warcraft III, and Diablo II.
- Manages BitTorrent, FTP, DCC and other file sharing protocols so your connection always stays lag free.
- Allows you to cap the bandwidth of any service or combination of services. You may have an unlimited number of bandwidth caps if you use the Advanced Configuration panel.
- Provides ACK packet priority to guarantee fast download speeds while your machine is uploading at maximum speed.

What's new in this version:

Updated to use throttled-0.5 which implements weighted network queues (WF2Q+). Finally we can have percentage based queues that borrow from one another! I have also made some minor cosmetic changes to the Advanced Configuration.

Throttled Pro ReviewTheir idea of support is calling them via whois phone #! - Version: 1.2, 7/17/2007 11:05PM PST

This is a great product, an absolute must for those who want to run a Mac OS X server on a limited internet pipe. But if you don't like spending a day or more troubleshooting the program to try and get it to work this isn't for you...this wouldn't have been a problem if the support actually existed. There is NO support, I emailed them during business hours and got no reply. When I paid for the pro version of throttled I didn't even get my serial # until I did a whois on their domain and called them...if you rely on support then you may find it worth your time to avoid this product and all products this company makes as there is NO SUPPORT! But other then that this product is great, just takes some time getting used to how it works. TIP: If you have something like a FTP server which consumes a huge amount of ports like I did and which results in the throttled port being in use you will not be able to use the gui. Instead you will have to download the command prompt version, create the ipfw rules yourself and then start the throttled process yourself. It's not that hard if you don't mind reading the documentation and startup script for info on how to do both...

But again there is no support and since they seem to promise support this is a big no no to me...is anyone there?!

Throttled Pro CommentaryRegarding the developer that lurks and snipes comments. - Version: 1.1.4, 7/18/2006 01:41PM PST

Regarding your post entitled Developer Lurks and Snipes Comments:

I had a chance to preview most of your reviews and your work and I have to say that for a professional such as yourself, making reviews on already acclaimed applications and then making remarks about how you should be praised for comments you make (good or bad) is just hilarious! You must really have a lot of time on your hands to go out of your way and bash small developers on reliable and sound products that have been tested by ACTUAL industry profssionals that use the product on a consistent basis. You were also wondering about having the developer login another acct to make posts is just nuts, just so you know I am a DJ from Chicago, and I use Throttled to stream music & video or gaming all the time.

This dude has a problem even with my "pathetic" reviews of OTHER software! Till I realized it's the developer bashing those who leave negatives! Now that's funny - team this guy up with that eLister freakizoid who was banned from versiontracker. Should I apologize for my glowing 5-star reviews for Transmit, Photo Retouch Pro, Firefox, CPU Director...? When in my informed opinion Throttled IS right down there with Stuffit and Windows Media Player? No lie, I really think that. Really.
