Misleading title, not really freeware

This widget operates only for subscribers of on-line tv schedule services. The summary of this tool must reflect this. Old versions of Sherlock and Watson had tv tracking that used freely available services. Why can't this tool at least duplicate an 8 year old concept instead of just breaking it further?

My guess is that this widget should really be called US TV Tracker rather than being unqualified in terms of territories it serves - but I may be wrong as I can't find hard and fast evidence either way. Yet again Americans live up to their rep of not knowing that there is a world outside their own country.
The website for the widget talks in very unspecific terms, saying for example "TV Tracker 3.5 is the easiest way to see what's on TV". Well that may be the case in the USA but it doesn't apply anywhere else. Come on, get an education why don't you?

Yikes! That's WAAY too much for a widget, especially when there are so many free, electronic alternatives.

would be nice to mention up front that this service costs $ before you download this app.!
Not worth this money for me. The info is free on the web.

I have used this widget for some time and have encountered some of the problems discussed here. As a widget developer myself, I actually managed to solve some of them, for my personal use. But, all of these problems may soon go away - permanently.
The TV Tracker widget currently gets its TV listings data from Zap2it Labs, which has announced that it is discontinuing its service, as of September 1, 2007. In the past, the TV Tracker widget used a different listings provider, so I hope that they will go back to that one, before the Zap2it Labs discontinues its service. Actually, though I am not sure, I think that they used to parse a web listing, but changed to Zap2it, because the source web site was always changing, which required changes to the widget. At least, that's my understanding.
Interestingly, I have noticed certain significant slow downs and even failures to download data in the TV Tracker widget, since that Zap2it Labs announcement.
Also, this has created a lot of discussion on home theater boards, around the net. The loss of that data from Zap2it Labs, represents a great loss to the home theater community, as several other Mac and PC products also use that data. I hope that some company will move in to fill the Zap2it Labs gap.

I have actually caught this widget using 1.4 GB of RAM after waking the computer from sleep and it won't give back the RAM without closing out the widget (which takes awhile since the computer is slowed to an absolute crawl during this time). It also gives me a "TV Tracker 3 closed, do you want to reopen it?" type dialog frequently on wake from sleep. And as others have reported it frequently gets stuck in the "downloading/sorting" mode, a problem carried over from version 2 in my experience. Each revision of this widget seems to get worse. It started out as a relatively simple widget and a good idea (quick way to check your TV listings - just hit F12 and you know what's on TV) but has become an overfeatured and bloated mess that clearly needs some help.

I have to agree on the memory issues. I never had problems with TV Tracker 1 or 2, but version 3 eats RAM like Homer Simpson in a donut factory. I once caught it using 780MB of memory!!! I can't run the widget without my computer eventually slowing to a crawl. This is unacceptible.

Downloaded this one hoping it would fare better than the last version V.2 but in my eyes, it failed miserably. It kept switching forth and back between "sorting" and "updating". I run 10.4.9 on a MacBookPro and have never ever seen such a sloppily programmed widget. First of all, I have no idea why one has to register with Zap2it to even get started - whats the big deal here? Are not TV lineups public domain by now? Two thumbs down Monkeyboys - and by the way, why do apes program software?
As for cost, the widget is free but the data source it uses, schedulesdirect.com, charges U$20/year. Up until a year ago, the listings were free.
