The readme says it might not work on a MacBook. It doesn't. Too bad.

LiveQuartz ReviewNice but needs work - Version: 1.6.3, 4/9/2007 12:11AM PST

This is a nice showcase of Core Image technology, but it needs adjustable histograms to serve as a full time photo editor. The GUI also needs some refinement.

As is, LiveQuartz is a curiosity.

LiveQuartz ReviewA simple photo editor - Version: 1.6.3, 11/29/2006 09:49AM PST

While PhotoShop still rules everything and anything in the photo editing world, LiveQuartz is great for people who either can afford to pay for PhotoShop's high prices or just want to do some simple quick photo editing without having to dish out a lot of money for program functions they will probably never use. While LiveQuartz isn't as simple to use as PhotoShop and lacks functions, it still can preform many useful and simple tasks. For example, I use it crop photos with ease. Adding text or color is a breeze too. If you want to just play around with photos and not have to pay a lot to do it, get LiveQuartz.

LiveQuartz ReviewThis is the best simple image editor I have found... - Version: 1.6.3, 11/13/2006 06:59AM PST

I cannot say enough in praise of this little application. I have GIMP and the Macromedia Studio MX suite and I have not used them since I found this app. So many times I just want to do a simple edit on an image and this is the PERFECT tool for that. It is clean, very efficient and feature packed for such a small free app.

To Developer: I have not yet donated as my bank account balance = diddly/squat (Bloom County) but I will ASAP! Thanks for this fantastic application and please keep up the great work.

LiveQuartz ReviewOkay for free - Version: 1.6, 4/27/2006 01:41PM PST

it's no photoshop replacement, not even photodelux replacement, but its okay for a basic program. it even imported a psd image file i had.

it still needs some work, a shapoed/sized pointer would be nice instead of just a crosshare pointer.

Hi,

If you don"t have a MacOS 10.4 on your Mac, you can try a very old build of iMage that was built on panther. It doesn't include filters support and many tools are missing but all the layer management is already in place:

LiveQuartz ReviewOkay, but doesn't convince me - Version: 1.5.1, 2/15/2006 05:50AM PST

Whether it has Chinese localization or not, what good is it, if it has so many bugs? I take the rubber to delete parts of an image, one click, it deletes it all. I take the brush to paint on an image, one click, it creates a new layer, background all black and I paint on that, but the image is gone. If I paint on that layer again, it first makes it all black (so I can only paint everything in one stroke or nothing at all).

The core image effects are great, but that's because Apple is great, the author of this software is just using what the system is offering. However, whenever the author is doing a simple paint operation, it's all broken. And I should donate for it? I always donate for good software, this one is not.

It's a good example for the power of the Quartz engine. Very nice app. Very fast and easy to use.

LiveQuartz ReviewBad style - Version: 1.2, 12/20/2005 06:39AM PST

Why does it feel like all the positive reviews are just the author sockpuppeting...? That's just bad style.

The interface is horrible, and I get visual artifacts all the time.
