I think that Dan has been a bit unncessarily brutal.
True, it is not the most elegant widget out there but it is v.1. I do agree with the idea for radio buttons and I would like to see Google Maps added in.
Don't give up on it edot. I'm watching for the updates.

The design is just dreadful. It doesn't belong alongside all the slick widgets other developers and Apple have created for Dashboard. Also, it's bad design that you have to flip the widget simply to change which Google service to search. That should be a radio button selector, as with Google. Finally, don't limit yourself to the main services Google includes on its front page -- allow the user to configure which of the many "G" services should be shown on the front of the widget. That would be a much better use of the configuration area on the back of the widget.
Few things.
The menu once clicked stays up until something is selected. Even if the text box or another widget is clicked... this should not be the case, it should go away under any click.
The region options should have a US or just english option.... i'm not sure whether to use international or UK if I want just english returns
