Doing a "Get Info" on the widget reports it's version 2.3. But the zipped download file had 24 (2.4) in the title.

My mobile plan doesn't include any free messages, and Send SMS/SMS Mac's cost of 0.10 Euro per message is about a quarter of my service provider's normal charge, so this is good value for me.
I bought it specifically to text a friend in the Caribbean from the UK and the first three messages all 'bounced' after a couple of days. I have my widget configured so that I receive an email confirmation once the message is sent. The 'Sent' confirmation is immediate but this is of limited use, since it then took 48 hours each time to receive notification that the messages could not be delivered. This delay is out of the control of the software developers though, as it is determined by the receiver's gateway.
The developers were excellent at working through the problem and set up a special pathway for me so that on the fourth attempt I was able to successfully send messages to my friend. When successful, the 'Sent' confirmation and 'Delivered' confirmation emails are almost simultaneous.
During the troubleshooting stage, I deliberately avoided using accented characters (as found in Spanish) in my messages as well as text messages over 160 characters long (Long SMS), as some mobile providers do not permit these features. I am still at the trial-and-error phase but accented characters seem to be permitted so I'll try Long SMS next. A 160-character SMS (included spaces) is quite restrictive.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this app.

Good application but not entirely a good solution.

First the good stuff. This is a neat little application; and the developer seems to be very supportive and attempts to solve any problems. If you need to send international SMS, it may be the best product I've seen. Now for the issues. I live in the USA and have a ported number. When I couldn't receive messages, the developer did fix my number; but what about other ported numbers I send messages to? What if they never know they didn't receive one? Also, I use Verizon Wireless; and any REPLIES I send are not received. (Of course, I could start a new SMS to the sender; but that's another aggravation you have to hope people remember to do.) This application started me on the road to find a great solution. For me, since I don't need to send international messages, I simply use iChat to send AIM to mobile phones; and they can reply just fine to iChat. When I leave home and have not received my replies, I just turn AIM on in my mobile phone and my replies are delivered that way. This works well; and I don't have to rely on people remembering to do the correct thing to reply to me. THIS IS A NEAT LITTLE APPLICATION THOUGH.
