I have been using Knox for quite a while and it helps me sleep a lot better at nights. My life in on my Mac and I am glad it is an "encrypted" life and in a Knox vault. This program is much more user friendly than Apple's FileVault and worth every dollar.
One really good feature

Knox has the ability to function with Apple's Backup program in ways that should already be available, but aren't. For instance, in Backup, you can't back files up to an encrypted disk image (or any .dmg file since it's a file not a folder, I'm guessing), but you can back files up to an encrypted Knox vault (once it's mounted and 'open'). You can either 'push' files to a Knox vault with Backup, or 'pull' them in vice versa, and both programs allow me to backup a knox vault to either iDisk or a USB flash drive. Limitations for Knox are that, (1), while backing up there's no progress bar shown, and (2) you can only program one backup routine. So it's not exactly full featured in that respect. I have a feeling that if I knew 2 Terminal commands I could save $30.
Awesome

I love it. I tried many backup solutions. I need to daily backup more that 20GB of data. With Knox not only I keep my data well organized and protected in vaults but I do an ultra fast backup to my external firewire Hard Drive. This is a great backup application, plus I love the encryption. I cannot live without it. It worths every penny! Apple should consider including this technology on the next Leopard release. I reccomend Knox as an awesome product.
Very Good.

This program provides an excellent and user-friendly interface to make and organize encrypted sparse images.
Yes, you can create such images directly with Apple Disk Utility, but Knox provides the features and interface that should be a part of Disk Utility.
I bought this after 30 days, but I had to think hard before deciding to open my wallet. I agree with others that it is a bit over-priced. Perhaps $15-20 would be more reasonable for what it does. The somewhat high price is why I am taking off one star. Except for the price this is an excellent product.

Hangnail, yes, normal disk images are fixed file sizes. However Apple's Disk Utility can also create Sparse disk images, which, like filevault, grows and shrinks are it needs according to the disk image contents, so as not to waste unused disk space. Filevault is actually a sparse disk image file. So this utility seems to put a nice GUI on Apple Disk Utility to manage sparse disk images. So far, I see no compelling reason to ditch Apple Disk Utility. In this case at least, FREE is GOOD.

If you don't like the price then don't buy it. IMHO, this utility is well worth the money
It's an excellent program but I agree, the price is way too steep - Version: 1.0.6, 4/13/2006 07:21PM PST

It's an excellent program but I agree, the price is way too steep. However, if you go to the developer web site they have a deal that allows you to buy Path Finder and Knox for a lot less than if you bought them both separately. That's the way I went since I was thinking about buying Path Finder anyway.

Steep price tag for a one-trick pony

This is a similar app like GhostShpere but looks better and offers more user convenience. However, the price tag of US$ 30 is steep and double that of similar applications. I would immediately purchase Knox for US$15. As pointed out in this forum and in the feedback for the other apps in this domain: there are easy ways to get the same results and create a secure disk image with Apples own DiskUtility. It needs two or three clicks more... and whether these are worth US$ 30 is up for discussion.
External drive does not erase vaults automatically and it takes forever to remove it. Unplug and plug back the external drive then you will erase it.
Opening a large vault is time consuming.
Anyways, I must say it is much easier that I just use a straight forward encryption software, like Blowfish.
