If you're a Mac Power User or eventually want to be then this is a "must-have" for your Mac arsenal! In my experience the hardest, initial decision to make about an application like this is whether or not it's worth the time it's going to take me to learn how to use it and transition it into my current workflow. I can easy say that for the Mac Power User, ControllerMate is definitely worth your time. Set aside a Saturday afternoon to grab your favorite beverage and dig in to the ControllerMate help docs, you won't regret it. Similar to those times after you adopted a Mac, when you've found yourself wondering how you ever put up with using Windows in the past, soon you'll struggle to remember life before ControllerMate. Anyone who has ever uncovered the magic of Blacktree's Quicksilver (i.e. all the features beyond mere application launching) knows exactly what I am talking about.
Excellent! Allowed me to set up F-key volume controls on my Macally full-size keyboard.

I have been using a full-size Mac-compatible keyboard instead of the smaller Apple keyboard which came with my iMac. This full size keyboard (brand name Macally) does not have VOLUME keys, which is a problem when I need to mute the sound level quickly to take a phone call or to talk to someone at my desk. ControllerMate allowed me to assign "F" keys to the functions of VOLUME DOWN, VOLUME UP and MUTE.
I chose to configure F1=VOLUME DOWN, F2=VOLUME UP and F4=MUTE.
(F3=FIND AGAIN in Firefox, so I did not use that key.)
After just a few minutes of head-scratching and fiddling around with ControllerMate, I was able to set up this configuration. The graphic format of ControllerMate is very simple and fun, once you get the hang of it. I am looking forward to using this program to configure other functions, if the need arises.
So far, these new volume keys are working for me. If I have any problems, I will leave another review here.
There is a tutorial and a users' forum on the developer's website at http://www.orderedbytes.com/

This program is Great! Helped me with my problems. Takes a little bit to get used to but well worth the 15 dollars it costs.
