Product Description:

palmTunes Express is a utility for copying your .mp3 files from your iTunes playlists to your Palm OS 5.0 handheld. You can also use it to copy the files from iTunes playlists to a folder of your choice (SD card, folder of an MP3 player, USB key or anywhere you choose - even to a folder on the network). It was created due to the fact that PalmOne does not provide synchronization from iTunes to their handhelds, even though they are very capable MP3 players with the included RealOne player from Palm OS. It is very simple to use. Choose the playlist you want to sync, check or uncheck any tracks from the playlist and then click 'Sync'. For more on how to use palmTunes Express choose 'Help' from its menu (press command ? on the keyboard). palmTunes Express is shareware and costs $9.99 (USD). The demo mode is limited to syncing only one file from the chosen playlist. NOTE! palmTunes Express works with .mp3 files only (i.e., you cannot sync music files purchased from the iTunes Music Store). This is due to the fact that these files are not DRMed and RealOne Player for Palm OS can play them. (On the other hand, iTunes Music Store AAC files are DRMed and cannot be played with RealOne Player for Palm OS).

... why not just make an alias of your "Files to Install" folder from your palm user folder and then just drag the music you want to that from itunes? The mp3s are copied to the folder and all you have to do is sync. I suppose it's nice to be able to have JUST the music sync, but it seems like a lot of work to save a a minute or two of extra updating. Kudos for keeping palm on the mac alive though.

"The web site you are trying to access has exceeded its allocated data transfer."

It's a pity. I was really interested in this product.

And, developer, maybe the borders around your screenshots posted here in VersionTracker are intentional, but if not, try pressing space after hitting Command-Shift-4; the cursor will turn into a photo camera icon and the screenshot will be limited to the bounds of the window. Give it a try.

I can't even get the program to launch. The application doesn't even have an icon. The developers website--a geocities site!--is over its bandwidth allotment. I've been looking for a program like this for a while to sync podcasts to my Treo 650; I hope they get it working soon.
