Product Description:

Mini vMac emulates a Macintosh Plus, one of the earliest of Macintosh computers. It can run old Macintosh software that otherwise couldn't be used on recent machines. Mini vMac requires a ROM image file to run, and so can be legally used only by those who own a Macintosh Plus.

What's new in this version:

fixes a drawing smoothness issue in the Intel Macintosh version, and has further refinements to the user interface strings. Gianluca Abbiati agreed to look at the Italian translation (I still haven't heard from Fabio Concas), and made numerous suggestions. The are also refinements in the German translation from Detlef Kahner, and refinements in the French and English from Pierre Lemieux. The Intel Macintosh drawing issue was due to a missing call to QDFlushPortBuffer, and was most noticeable by waving the mouse in a circle and seeing how many ghost images of the cursor appeared on the screen. (Too few means that it isn't refreshing as quickly as it should.) This issue also would appear in the PowerPC version, if it was compiled with a recent version of XCode. The PowerPC version of Mini vMac 2.8.1 was compiled with an old version of XCode, and the Intel version was compiled on an Intel Macintosh. For Mini vMac 2.8.2, both OS X versions were compiled with XCode 2.2.1 on a PowerPC Macintosh.

Mini vMac ReviewVery Nice Stroll Down Memory Lane - Version: 3.0.4 beta, 11/10/2007 02:00PM PST

I'm not sure why I downloaded this; I have a fully-functional Mac SE/30 stashed away in my basement! :-)

But I wanted to see what the old Plus looked like, so I downloaded this emulator, fired it up, and began the upgrade to 7.5.5. I found I can use Disk Utility under OS X to create hard disks that I can use to boot the emulator and to install software.

I -knew- there was a reason I kept my old Mac floppies all these years (I still have a System 1.0 boot disk!). Crystal Quest. HyperCard. My old FileMaker databases...

Fun stuff. Good work, and hats off to the developers!

Nice emu pretty much same as real thing and is pretty neat little app.
Also since its all disk images It took like 30 seconds to install system 7.
Very easy use with drag and drop.
You just drag the disk image you want to mount onto the(emulated) screen and it mounts it.
To toggle settings you just hold down ctrl(control) and use keys like m for magnify, f for full screen and things like that.
Very nice app great work.

Mini vMac ReviewMini vMac and HyperCard 1.x = great fun - Version: 2.7.1, 7/28/2006 08:18AM PST

I no longer run Classic (Mac OS 9) on my G5, but Mini vMac lets me access some of the best old school mac applications out there. One of the best was Bill Atkinson's HyperCard. HyperCard version 1 you can find online, or often in used bookstores--look for old HyperCard books. Version 1 comes with examples and a great reference that teaches the dictionary and the grammar of the HyperTalk language. HyperCard was the iApp of its day; creative and fun, and for a programing tool that's saying a lot. vMac, System 6, and HyperCard 1, have fun.

While in Mini vMac, hold down "control" key for tips.
