Fontographer ReviewSame old FOG. What's changed? - Version: 4.7.3, 4/14/2006 05:20PM PST

Outside of porting it to OSX, I don't see any new features or fixes. It isn't even aware of OpenType or glyphs — as far as I can tell. Don't understand why this is v4.7, it doesn't have any new tricks and really looks mouldy. It should be v.4.2, but what do I know?

It's still FOG — which I've owned since the Altsys days — and it's great to have it acknowledged. Hopefully, v5.0 will see something new. It's still as easy to use as ever. Now if they can only get BorderMaker back up we'd, at least, be able to use some of our old tricks that we spent many hours designing in Fontographer v3

Most annoying are the download links, many have been reporting problems with the purchased links page for over six months, and they still haven't worked the bugs out of that.

I wonder what that portends…

I can't recommend that anyone shell out for the full version yet. Better to wait and use whatever your using now. The Mac upgrade price is fair, but I'm not optimistic that the upgrades — going forward — will be a bargain.

...the silly download doesn't expand properly. my bad, i double-clicked the archive and stuffit expander 9.0.x tried to expand the archive...BAM! then i tried to expand with 10.0.x and it expanded to /dev/null.

guys, would it kill you to test this before offering it for purchase/download? in addition, how can a single attempt to download be met on the second go-around with an error to the effect "hey, you downloaded this 7 times...sorry!"

i can't BEGIN to tell you how irritating this sort of incompetency is...
