This repeatedly crashes under 10.4.5 on the specific file I tried it on.

I tried this on a 80MB pdf file. I couldn't do anything else with my PB 1.33 during 5 Minutes. Just resizing the PDFIE window let my computer hang up for another minute.
It's a great idea, but the resource management is not ok, sorry.

I have not tried PDF Image Extractor (PDFIE) on a large number of files, but it has functioned very well so far. Worked fine on one file that had hundreds of images it. Straightforward, easy to use, good results.
On opening a PDF file, thumbnails of its embedded images appear at left, selected image has larger preview at right. You can choose to extract one or all images (can't select multiple single images); you then choose a file name to extract to; for multiple extractions the names get _0, _1, _2, etc. suffix added.
While PDFIE handles far fewer file types than File Juicer, it seems to do a better job at the specific task of extracting images from PDF files. It found quite a few images that F.J. did not, and it puts them into graphic file formats (e.g. JPEG), rather than into another PDF as F.J. did.
A few complaints: the demo mode you get before paying has "Demo Version" sprinkled liberally all over the image, so it's bit hard to evaluate the program; it would be nice to be able to select specific images rather than just one or all; also nice to be able to drag PDF file to program window rather than having to select in dialog; there could be some more documentation. These are pretty minor, would be good future enhancements.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with this program, and would recommend it.
