Product Description:

Dictaphones are yesterday's news. Transcriva turns this mechanical chore into a natural, fluid process using the power of Mac OS X. The unique chat-like interface produces a clean, concise transcript whether you're transcribing a single speaker's dictation or the Board's meeting minutes. The audio interface provides just the right amount of control. An adjustable playback speed lets you work more slowly for fast talkers and more quickly for slow ones, while the backtrack-on-pause feature lets you easily pick up where you left off without the guesswork. Best of all, Transcriva's most common controls are keyboard-driven, allowing you to assign shortcuts to speakers for quick transcription, as well as control the playback without constantly reaching for the mouse. When you're finished, the export feature lets you open your transcript in any standard text editor, word processor, or layout tool - even CopyWrite! - Works with most popular audio formats. - Allows single or multiple speakers. * - Allows any number of audio clips for each transcript. * - Follow-Along keeps transcript synchronized with audio clip. - Fully keyboard-driven for a fluid, efficient experience. - Backtrack-On-Pause 'rewinds' the audio clip every time you pause so you always know where you left off. - Adjustable playback speed lets you work more slowly for fast talkers and more quickly for slow ones. - Search allows you to see only the entries you're looking for, filtering out the rest. - A chat-like interface provides a clean new perspective on your transcripts. Export puts the finished transcript in your full control, allowing you to use any standard text editor, word processor, or layout tool to format the transcript for presentation. * * These features are limited or unavailable in the unregistered version. To unlock all features, you must purchase a license.

Transcriva ReviewSupport was great! - Version: 1.23, 4/9/2008 04:31PM PST

i disagree with the poster who complained of support-- try emailing again. they got back to me within the same day, helped me troubleshoot my download, and then went above and beyond the call of duty in helping me determine what might be wrong with my machine.

i have yet to try the software, but so far I'm impressed with the level of support they've offered. that's a good way to make a first impression.

Transcriva CommentaryGreat idea, when it works. Poor support. - Version: 1.23, 12/22/2007 06:03PM PST

I have not been able to use this program since I updated to the 1.23 version. The previous version worked pretty well, and now the program is crashing. Another real problem is that the controls for the audio do not work. I can't move back or forward.

What worries me now is that support from Bartas is less than efficient. You can only communicate with them via email, and it takes then too long to reply. On their sites, it says it takes about two days to get a response. But I've waited for weeks. They have not responded to my last email, and so I had to send them another one.

I've been trying to get the previous version too, but can't seem to find it.

In summary, I really like this program, when it worked. It's frustrating. I was really looking forward to doing my work with Transcrivia.

Transcriva Usage TipSlowing down - Version: 1.21, 10/4/2007 11:04AM PST

Try it out first - on an iMac G4 1 GHz it slows down quite badly the more captions you add (probably due to using graphics for text), so after just 20-30 captions added it becomes pretty unusable for me on the iMac. Works fine on my MacBook Pro (2.16 GHz C2D)
